Awful experience
Greetings, everyone! I'd like to share my experience as a waitress during a one-day trial at this restaurant. At first glance, the owner comes across as a friendly and charismatic individual. However, it's essential not to be swayed by appearances. While he may be a great speaker, the reality is quite different. You’ll find yourself waiting for a glass of wine for 40 minutes, only to be ignored for another 40 minutes after that. But he surely will make a good joke in order for you to forget how long you have been waiting.
It was my first day on the job, and I had no prior experience in this field, which I readily admitted. I was given an apron, a brief explanation of table numbering, and sent to serve guests. I dedicated five hours, doing my best to improvise, but it felt like the orders I took were not being taken seriously. To make matters worse, the restaurant refused to pay me for my five-hour shift, dismissing it as "basic stuff." I was the sole waitress handling a full night of 15 tables. I cannot recommend working here, as it seems they exploit foreign workers, expecting not to pay them fairly or even underpay them.
As for the food quality, if you're seeking freshness, this might not be the place for you. Whether it's chicken or lasagna, it's pre-cooked and reheated in the microwave. Furthermore, accidents like bread or focaccia falling on the floor don't seem to be a concern for the management; they'll serve it anyway. I strongly advise scrutinizing your bill, as they tend to add items you...
Read moreEating here was the best restaurant experience that my family had in all of Italy, and that's quite a compliment considering all of the different places we have tried over 9 days. I made reservations on Google maps, and they had a table set aside for us when we arrived with our name on a sign. The service provided was unique and special. They made us feel like VIPs from the moment we walked in to the time we walked out. I tried to pay attention to other tables while we were there and I believe everyone was made to feel as special as we were. The food was equally as good as the service. While everything we ate was amazing, the quiche, pistachio pasta, and traditional spring soup really stood out. I don't believe you can order a bad dish here. Hat tip to Michael who led the wait staff, and made us feel like family. I would assume he owns the place since he worked so hard to make us feel like family. If you are in Lucca, don't miss...
Read moreWe ate here last night after reading all the positive reviews. Please note, we had a big lunch and I really wasn’t all that hungry but I ate every morsel put in front of me.
First let me begin by saying the service by Michele and Stefania made the night. They were attentive, engaging and gave great recommendations. By the end of the night there were hugs for my husband and a kiss for each of my cheeks like we were old friends.
Then consider the food. My husband will eat anything that has truffle and it did not disappoint. I ate the ferretti with pecorino and pistacchio. OMG. Was I surprised!! We actually considered ordering a second plate but we decided to save ourselves for dessert. Please again note that me least favorite dessert is Tiramisù. Michele’s wife makes it and it was divine. I could not believe it. I ate it so fast.
This was our best meal in Lucca and we will return to Lucca in Tavola next time...
