Lido Antares — Attraction in Scilla

To begin this review is for the Sunbeds only. I speak no Italian and it was very difficult to understand what was going on despite using some Google translate. The most confusing part was one staff member when assigning chairs said yes to Row 3, appears to write this into the chair layout planner and then walked off. We assumed he was going to get the card machine. He never looked at us again from this point. Another staff member took over and then said row 3 was fully booked and said it's either row 2 ( higher cost) or row 5. A kind lady who spoke English and Italian translated our situation the staff member but she said no it's all booked. We took the second row. We then noticed the beach was quite rough and not our style of beach, it gets deep very quick and is not suitable for everyone. This was our mistake as we should have checked first. We asked for a refund (it had been 5 mins by this point) but were told no refunds for using card. Ok it is what it is. The umbrellas do not block 100% of the sun rays so you need to stay covered or screen up if under the umbrella if your susceptible. The rough start put a dampener on the morning as it felt like we were an inconvenience to them, the customer service was rushed and a bit chaotic which killed our mood, thankfully Scilla is beautiful and the staff in the coffee shop across the road were excellent. Come ogni anno, sono stata in questo lido per trascorrere una giornata di mare a Scilla. Spoiler: quest'anno è stata un incubo e abbiamo dovuto lasciare il lido nel corso della giornata. Partiamo dalla prenotazione: avremmo voluto riservare due ombrelloni e per tutta la settimana, da lunedì a venerdì, abbiamo chiamato più volte il numero di telefono presente su Google, senza mai ricevere risposta. Sabato mattina arriviamo in loco e riusciamo a trovare gli ultimi due ombrelloni rimasti. Scegliamo di prenderne uno, perché il secondo era molto a ridosso della doccia, quindi sottoposto a continui getti d'acqua. Nel nostro gruppo c'è una persona con disabilità, che decide di rimanere al tavolo del ristorante. Dato che ogni tavolo ha un palo centrale che lo rende scomodo a chiunque abbia una carrozzina, chiede di poter stare in un tavolo con i quattro pali standard. La proprietaria risponde che siamo noi a dover trovare una soluzione, dato che il lido è accessibile e che non può farci niente (secondo lei basta un bagno per persone disabili per decretare l'accessibilità di tutta la struttura). Dopo averle detto che è suo compito soddisfare le richieste dei clienti e dopo aver parlato con la sua avvocata, che la proprietaria ha chiamato per sottolineare l'accessibilità della struttura, riusciamo a prendere in prestito un tavolo da un lido accanto. Pranziamo (no comment sul servizio) e dopo pranzo decidiamo di fermarci in parte al tavolo, in parte sotto l'ombrellone. D'un tratto arriva la proprietaria, invitando la persona con disabilità a spostarsi, perché lì dove stava era previsto un dj set. Le comunichiamo di voler lasciare il lido e lei ha continuato a ribadire il fatto che la sua struttura fosse accessibile. Credo che non ritorneremo più qui. Fun fact: a fine giornata, nonostante la presenza dell'apposito talloncino sul parabrezza della nostra auto, abbiamo trovato un motorino parcheggiato accanto alla portiera del passeggero con disabilità che ne impediva l'ingresso. We were with a small child. The waiter brought us the menus and left. He served the people who arrived just before us and then three other tables that arrived after us. All of them were given a tablecloth except for us. We were completely ignored as if he assumed that we wouldn't give him any tips. That's correct- coperto is there for a reason.
