Osteria del Centro — Restaurant in Scilla

So it had been three days and I was not that satisfied with the food which I was eating for lunch or dinner or for that matter in B&B breakfast. However that changed with Osteria Del Centeo.

Staff was courteous and humble. We got settled in outdoor sitting area as it was a warm day in Scilla.

Ended up ordering: Mussels soup (staff recommended as day special) Along with that we had ordered Two pasta dishes (stroncarura and linguine) and one starter Caprese (pictures are posted) And as a finisher, tiramisu.

Overall food was delicious, mussels were perfectly cooked. Linguine had a hint of chilly taste but it was not overpowering and the prawns were shining along with glutenous pasta.

Sun dried tomatoes in stroncatura pasta was a surprisingly adding so much different flavour profile. Simply great!

Tiramisu did not go wrong.

Overall, worth visiting - if want to try something which is not deep fried or typical swordfish sandwich.

Price wide it feels expensively but the quality justified it and you will not feel bad about it.

Not satisfied. We were there in autumn, October 2025, there where not many open restaurants so we were happy to see Osteria del Centro open. Service was OK, decoration was fine. As we did not want to spend too much time for lunch we decided to order one choice of "Piato del giorno" we both ordered Risotto with Radicchio, Gorgonzola and Pistacchio. At ordering time we were informed that on that day they were replacing 'pistachio' by 'noci', which we accepted. When the two risottos came, we were deceptioned. Abbiamo visto le recensioni Google e sembravano parecchio buone. Abbiamo quindi provato a chiamare la stessa sera e ci hanno riferito al telefono che in una mezz’ora avremmo trovato il tavolo libero. All’orario prestabilito ci presentiamo al locale e ci fanno attendere 15 minuti per sparecchiare e riapparecchiare il tavolo. Nello stesso istante si siedono al tavolo di fianco al nostro altre 4 persone. In dieci minuti questo tavolo riesce a ordinare mentre noi aspettiamo altri 45 minuti. Nel frattempo decidiamo di prendere un antipasto da dividere in 4, due stroncature alla montanara (guanciale, pomodorini secchi e pecorino), due fusilli con ricciola (ricciola, ricotta e curcuma) e un bicchiere di vino della casa. Dopo aver ordinato attendiamo un’ulteriore ora per l’antipasto richiesto (buono, niente di cui lamentarsi) e dopo un’altra mezz’ora arrivano i primi. Le stroncature erano quasi crude, mentre i fusilli erano totalmente scotti, senza ricotta, totalmente assente il sapore di curcuma (c’era solo il colore) e 4 cubetti in croce di ricciola (di cui uno addirittura con le spine) mentre a dire la verità, il vino era proprio buono. Alla cassa, il titolare (o chi ne faceva le veci) rimane perplesso dai miei commenti negativi, affermando: “non ci credo che è andato tutto male, la stroncatura si sa che si mangia al dente, mentre per il fusillo non avete colto il mix di sapori”, al che io ribatto con: “la stroncatura l’ho mangiata già al dente da altre parti, non era così e i fusilli li ho assaggiati personalmente sciacquandomi la bocca prima ed erano davvero insapore”. Risultato: un’ora di macchina per vedere il borgo di Scilla, ma il tempo è stato utilizzato per l’attesa (2 ore e mezza), trattati con sufficienza in quanto più giovani dell’età media degli altri clienti, una cena pessima (tranne per vino e antipasto), porzioni nella media e 94 euro di conto (unica magra consolazione, sconto ricevuto in cassa per la...
