Practical info for other tourists!

Out of the three main beaches, the northern litoral, Arenella, and Fonta Bianche, I would say that this would be the most preferred option. The beach is divided into a private and public access area. The private area is quite cheap for a couple (20 eur in total to rent 2 chairs with an umbrella on days except Sunday. I posted the price board below). The rent time runs from 9 am to 7 pm.

The public area is not bad at all, and there is quite enough shore space, as you can see in the videos. The view is picturesque, with calm waves, and a lot of space. At the entrance of the free beach you can find a bar that can satisfy most of your necessities – drinks, ice cream, snacks and food, etc. There are also a few restaurant places, but here I would recommend only the pizzeria - la Capannina de Gino. The other places are rather pricey and, in my opinion, not a pleasant consumer experience. There are also people that walk around the shore selling miscellaneous beach items (umbrellas, hats, volleyballs, sunglasses, etc.) Best not buy anything unless really necessary.

Nonetheless, the beach is free, pleasant, mostly clean, not loud, making it a nice choice for...

The beach itself is really beautiful, with clear waters that are warm in some places and colder in others. There are rocks that we really enjoyed diving from. Luckily, the day we were there, there was no wind and the water was not too dirty.

As for parking, you can leave your car for free about a 10-15 minute walk from the beach or there are paid parking lots.

The main problem, however, is the management of the space: practically 90% of the beach is taken up by private beaches, leaving only a small 10% of the beach free. Imagine how many people crowded into this small space, with umbrellas stacked on top of each other and people carrying speakers, making a huge racket.

We also noticed illegal beach clubs, literally setting up umbrellas and occupying the free beach without any rights. It is really annoying and chaotic. Many people arrived, saw the situation and immediately left.

It is a shame, because by law the space occupied by beach clubs should not be that big. If you do not want to pay for an umbrella and a sunbed and hope to relax in peace, it is not the ideal beach. Keep in mind that we were there in early July, so not in peak...

Buses to and from Fontane Bianche from Siracusa: The ACT (regional)bus leaves from the bus station round the corner from the main train station. Its either a 21 or 22. You buy the tickets from the shop next to train station entrance. NOT the booth at the bus station as its a different company for long distance buses. The timetable is on the wall inside the shop door. Their are 4 buses each day there and back. The lady in the shop is very nice and helpful. The 21/22 buses leave from the street further up from bus station its self. For the return journey check where you get off for where you get the bus for the return journey . The signs are small and dilapidated. Arrive at least 15 minutes early as buses don't wait for the stated time if they are early. There are more buses(and trains) to and from Cassible if you are ready to walk to Fontane Bianche. Its...

A lot of the guide books will point you towards Fontane Beach - and for good reason. It's clean and the water is really calm because of it's topology which makes it great for families. It can get crowded very quickly so get your towels down early. On the day we went, the water was warm (the warmest we'd encountered) and you can wade out for at least 100m. The only problem with the area is the parking which is kind of limited. We found a free car park about 200m from the beach area.

Nice place for families. Soft sand, clean water. The water remains calm so it's very relaxing to swim in and sometimes you can see a few tiny little fish swimming around. We rented an umbrella with 2 chairs at their lido fontane bianche for 15€, was a little too close to the neighbours space however... The bar sells fruits, snacks etc. There are changing cabins however many of them seemed to be locked (no one inside)? And there are washrooms. Nonetheless a relaxing and good time!
