Very beautiful pine park just near the seafront. Pine trees give you a necessary shade in hot days. Between the park and seaside there is a great promenade - Lungomare Benedetto Croce, which is used as a beach by locals. You can put your towel just in any place of the promenade and start sunbathing (like locals do). Also there are a few stairs into the sea - so you can also swim (but be aware - sea is a bit deep immediately). You can get here by buses #6 or #36 (around 10 minutes of ride from the main train station). But in summer time these lines of buses can be overcrowded. Once in the evening I even had to return to the city on foot (around 40 minutes of quick walk to the train station) because all buses passing by were packed...
Read moreThis area is perfect for beach day, picnic with your friends, workout if you want to do that too (beside swimming) as there is outdoor gym and the most perfect for great beach day. We came here during our 4 day holiday every day, around or before 9 and could always find the spot close the sea for two towels. Not necessarily very close to stairs to the see, but we didn't mind entering from the rocks. Water is amazing! You can see the bottom and swim all along that part of the coast couple of kilometres. The forest makes perfect shade for afternoon nap and wodden bar nearby will satisfy will you cravings for food and drink. I will come back for sure. Also - you can find parking there for free but rarely on...
Read moreDuring summer, it is the easiest, and free, way to reach the sea: you have stairs reaching down into the water, and some showers in the pinewood. You can find a sunny spot on the rocks or a shady place under the pines. You have plenty of kiosks and water fountains, as weel as paid pubblic toilettes. Good for kids to play, there are many playgrounds. If you go on the far side (northernmost) you can fine a small pebbles beach for the younger children with shallow water. A bit overcrowded during weekends.
During the rest of the year, a nice place to have a seaside walk, or with a stroller. You have plenty of space for kids to play.
