Pinewood of Barcola

Very beautiful pine park just near the seafront. Pine trees give you a necessary shade in hot days. Between the park and seaside there is a great promenade - Lungomare Benedetto Croce, which is used as a beach by locals. You can put your towel just in any place of the promenade and start sunbathing (like locals do). Also there are a few stairs into the sea - so you can also swim (but be aware - sea is a bit deep immediately). You can get here by buses #6 or #36 (around 10 minutes of ride from the main train station). But in summer time these lines of buses can be overcrowded. Once in the evening I even had to return to the city on foot (around 40 minutes of quick walk to the train station) because all buses passing by were packed with people.
