Ferrari (/fəˈrɑːri/; Italian: ferˈraːri]) is an Italian luxury sports car manufacturer based in Maranello, Italy. Founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1939 out of Alfa Romeo's race division as Auto Avio Costruzioni, the company built its first car in 1940. However, the company's inception as an auto manufacturer is usually recognized in 1947, when the first Ferrari-badged car was completed.

Fiat S.p.A. acquired 50% of Ferrari in 1969 and expanded its stake to 90% in 1988.[3] In October 2014 Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. (FCA) announced its intentions to separate Ferrari S.p.A. from FCA; as of the announcement FCA owned 90% of Ferrari.[46] The separation began in October 2015 with a restructuring that established Ferrari N.V. (a company incorporated in the Netherlands) as the new holding company of the Ferrari group and the subsequent sale by FCA of 10% of the shares in an IPO and concurrent listing of common shares on the New York Stock Exchange.[7] Through the remaining steps of the separation, FCA's interest in Ferrari's business was distributed to shareholders of FCA, with 10% continuing to be owned by Piero Ferrari.[8] The spin-off was completed on 3 January 2016.[7]

Throughout its history, the company has been noted for its continued participation in racing, especially in Formula One, where it is the oldest and most successful racing team, holding the most constructors championships (16) and having produced the highest number of drivers' championship wins (15).[9] Ferrari road cars are generally seen as a symbol of speed, luxury and wealth.[10] Ferrari cars are built at the 165,000 square-meter (16.5-hectare) Maranello factory.[11] In 2014 Ferrari was rated the world's most powerful brand by Brand Finance.[12] In June 2018, the 1963 250 GTO became the most expensive car in history, setting an all-time record selling price of $70 million.[13

Enzo Ferrari was not initially interested in the idea of producing road cars when he formed Scuderia Ferrari in 1929, with headquarters in Modena. Scuderia Ferrari (pronounced [skudeˈriːa]) literally means "Ferrari Stable" and is usually used to mean "Team Ferrari." Ferrari bought,[citation needed] prepared, and fielded Alfa Romeo racing cars for gentleman drivers, functioning as the racing division of Alfa Romeo. In 1933, Alfa Romeo withdrew its in-house racing team and Scuderia Ferrari took over as its works team:[1] the Scuderia received Alfa's Grand Prix cars of the latest specifications and fielded many famous drivers such as Tazio Nuvolari and Achille Varzi. In 1938, Alfa Romeo brought its racing operation again in-house, forming Alfa Corse in Milan and hired Enzo Ferrari as manager of the new racing department; therefore the Scuderia Ferrari was disbanded.[1]

In September 1939, Ferrari left Alfa Romeo under the provision he would not use the Ferrari name in association with races or racing cars for at least four years.[1] A few days later he founded Auto Avio Costruzioni, headquartered in the facilities of the old Scuderia Ferrari.[1] The new company ostensibly produced machine tools and aircraft accessories. In 1940, Ferrari produced a race car – the Tipo 815, based on a Fiat platform. It was the first Ferrari car and debuted at the 1940 Mille Miglia, but due to World War II it saw little competition. In 1943, the Ferrari factory moved to Maranello, where it has remained ever since. The factory was bombed by the Allies and subsequently rebuilt including works for road...

A must visit for every Ferrari fan and/or a fan of motorsports. Ferrari owners get to book various factory tours with their dealers. We went for the tailored factory tour which has a recommended tour time of 4 hours (including lunch).

The tailored factory tour allowed us to visit the tailor made department, the assembly line of Ferrari road cars, the engine making process and the racing department (more popularly known as Scuderia Ferrari). It was an eye opening experience to see the work going through behind each of their cars and the people behind them.

No photos or videos are allowed to be taken inside the facility. Perhaps the biggest takeaway I got from the tour is that the v12 engine is a piece of art and valued highly among the...

The public bus factory tour is a dreadfully boring waste of time. We were there in August so it could be possible to see more when everyone is not on summer holiday. We were literally brought to the outside of a building and told Enzo Ferrari’s office used to be there. Then we drove to the test track where they were performing maintenance so nothing was happening, but they still took us there and honestly that was basically the theme of their factory tour. We did see a couple of the newest Ferrari on the lot of the factory, but I only knew what they were because my son was sitting next to me and told me. We greatly enjoyed the museum, which is why I gave it two stars, but we were so disappointed by the tour it took some wind out...

A great museum to visit for every Ferrari fan. Takes you through the history of cars, races and the heritage it carries. You also get to see all the great cars old and new production cars and the F1 cars over the years. You also get to see the power units and blueprints of its models. There are a bunch more of delights for the car fans that I will not ruin by posting pictures else it will take away the WOW factor. Enjoy and set aside a couple of hours to savor the experience. Jump the queue tip: Buy the tickets online and get ahead of the crowd as there is a separate queue.

A nice museum Lots of history to learn You get a chance to try the simulator and choose the tack of your choice in different cities -additional $25 Tip : - ask for the discovery passport so you get to see more for less $$ - you can Lao rent a real Ferrari outside for a quick warm up - nice collection at the gift shop - the washroom at the gift shop is hidden behind a sliding door , clean and air conditioned Cons : - little information on how you can spend your day - we wanted to see the factory but that was not offered clearly - the gift shop is overpriced
