The first time I really wished I could give something more than 5 stars. I actually came twice because even though we had around 4 hours the first day there was still more to do.
Tickets: Klook was so much cheaper than getting it anywhere else when we went. Even the most expensive package was really cheap and worth it. Note that you just need one copy of each of the additional missions in your group and you can work together to solve it. So with a premium ticket have each member choose a different mission.
Getting there: advice on getting there online isn't the best but the easiest way is to just get to Maiko station. After that take the elevator just outside about 4 floors up and catch a bus. About once an hour you can get a bus directly to Ngijen no Mori. Otherwise you can get a bus to Awaji Interchange and then follow the signs there or the website to get the free shuttle from under the bridge. If you get lost anywhere the locals are really helpful. There are some other options like taking a ferry or the Naruto themed bus (but I think you need to pick up the tickets the day before).
If you love puzzles like me I recommend getting there early so you can check out the other theme parks at Ngijen even if you don't watch the show. The light show in the evening is really worth it as well. You can then walk back to the bus stop after and take a bus back to Maiko station.
The first mission with the maze was really fun. The second one was just okay. I really enjoyed the additional missions as well. That's why we even came back a second day to do all the additional missions.
There are also hidden things to do around the park such as getting a free lucky draw for filling out a survey. Also figuring out a picture with a mix of hand signs above reception. You can also share to your stories to get an additional lucky draw. I believe you can keep sharing stories until you win a prize. You can also get the app (which didn't work on my Android but did on my wife's iphone) to take augmented reality pics and if you do enough you get a nice bonus which I won't spoil.
All the staff were so friendly (except maybe the one working at the shop).
The shop has a lot of cool things that you can get discounted if you do the survey and share about the park to your stories.
The ramen was really good and reasonably priced. Note that they do close a little early with no signs indicating this and also do take a break during the day. They also have water filling stations which help a lot in the heat.
Room for improvement: Bag storage at the entrance ends at 7 or 7:30pm which is before the light show even happens. So you have to get your bags before that. But you also can't leave and reenter the Naruto section after a certain time. There are also no bag storage facilities at the Naruto theme park either except for a small section you can temporarily store stuff during the first mission. There were no places to rent power banks. I usually take one with me but forgot that day. I wanted to take so many photos and videos at the park but had to limit it so I had enough battery to figure out how to get home. Staff didn't want to help with the charging. It is quite a walk to the Naruto park. Perhaps shuttles on demand could help those older, with bags or disabilities. The light show was in Japanese - English subtitles would've helped but you can still sort of follow along. Food closes a bit early and no place to get anything after the light show either.
Overall it would be 9 stars out of 5 for me (would be 10 with some small improvements mentioned). The highlight of my Japan trip. Definitely worth the long journey...

Read moreI think the key to enjoying this place is to walk in with low expectations - I know that makes it sound like it's bad, it's not, but it isn't a traditional "theme park", so to expect rides and lots of things to do is misleading. However, my husband and I went, and we are both big Naruto fans and had lots of fun. We bought tickets to do two missions but didn't leave ourselves enough time to complete the second (we prioritised merch and used a LOT of time there). But I think the first mission (the 3D maze) is the best one anyway. They say that one takes about two hours and that's pretty accurate. The second should take 30 mins. We visited from Osaka using public transport. We took the train in to Maiko station then a bus to Awaji IC and used the free shuttle bus next to take us to the park. There is a bus that goes straight from Maiko station to the park but we had missed it, we did catch that on the way back though. My suggestion here is try to search up the bus timetables if possible to find your best route. From where the bus drops you off, it's a short walk to the Naruto area of the park (there are other areas too like the Godzilla one). We spent around 3 hours in the park since that's what we had available. We completed the first mission, had some ramen, then visited the merch shop and spent lots of money 😂. Overall, worth a visit if you're a big Naruto fan, even if it does take almost two...
