Hello everyone, I visited the seaside park today (27/10/2023) and my experience with the park staff was a mix of positive and negative moments. Unfortunately, my uncle lost contact with us as the park was closing, and he faced a challenging situation due to his limited sense of direction and reduced mobility, being 75 years old with heart problems. Regrettably, one male staff member was quite impolite and insistent in chasing my uncle out, which only exacerbated his anxiety. This situation is concerning, as it could potentially leads to immediate heart attack.
I'm deeply disappointed with the level of service provided by this staff member. As tourists, we are unfamiliar with the park's layout, and I believe that one of the staff's roles should be to assist and guide visitors to the correct exit, rather than pushing them out unceremoniously. I sincerely hope that the park authorities will take action to address this unfortunate incident. Feel free to contact me to identify the misbehaved male staff.
On a more positive note, I would like to express my gratitude to another staff member wearing glasses who assisted us in locating my uncle, using a car. He was exceptionally...
Read moreWow. This park looked amazing on google maps, but when we went there it was even more spectacular. We went here for 3 hours in September. Took a ferry from Hakata port (a very nice 15 min ride, not too many waves and you get to see great distance view of hakata city) to Saitozaki ferry terminal. This park is enormous, best way to see everything without taking forever is to hire a bike. It's around 500Yen for 3-4 hours. There are designated bike paths in the park, however you can take the bike in certain areas where there is lot of foot traffic. There are lot of bike stops where you can park and have a walk through different attractions. There is a bit of everything at this seaside park, there is a zoo, bird area, picnic areas, lot of gardens and is very kid friendly too - such as kids pools, picnic benches etc. Great place to go to escape the city for a few hours, especially on a lovely sunny day, whether your a couple or a family, there's something to do for everyone. When we went, there wasn't too many flowers blooming. This place must be exploding with people during cherry blossom season.... If you go to Fukuoka, be sure to come check this place out, you won't...
Read moreGreat experience.
I deeply enjoyed the rose garden and flower museum despite coming in autumn when I expected there to be no flowers - plot twist: there WERE flowers!!! Tons!!!
I also saw tons of butterflies. I only got pictures of a few, but saw the world's smallest (pygmy blue), several swallowtails (yellow tiger, long tail spangle, graphium sarpedon) two color morphs of the yellow grassland butterfly, and more.
The zoo portion was really cool. People are restricted to the paths, but the animals can roam freely. Getting followed around by baby capybaras was so fun! The monkey areas were filled with cool enrichment stuff, and, again, the monkeys could leave at any time. All creatures showed a high quality of life and good health.
We rented bikes (there are multiple rental stations and you can return the bikes to any location) and rode all over the park.
We stopped by the antique car museum and I got the cutest little plush bear as a souvenir. The cars all have vanity plates with their names in katakana. I thought that was a really cool touch. It's a small museum but well worth the...
