Beautiful museum. There is only the permanent exhibit at the moment so it takes maybe 30-45 minutes to see everything but the ticket for that part is only ¥280. There are coin lockers where you get your ¥100 back after. I will say though it was weirdly hot inside the museum. Also you can't take pictures inside the exhibit, only in the hall.

Beautiful grounds but tourists beware, check the website to make sure it's open before you travel here. We found out the hard way the entire gallery was closed for a month due to installation of new displays. As of right now it is closed till October 11th 2024. Hope to return again.

I was amazed by this gallery and its collection. We visited when they had the extremely impressive Kawase Hasui exhibition on ukiyo-e, Japan's unique style of woodblock printing/painting. Worth the entry fee to see.

福島市の信夫山麓に県立図書館と同敷地内に建っている県立美術館です。’21 8月に、アメリカ🇺🇸のミネアポリス所蔵の日本絵画の名品展が開催されていた為、久々に訪れました。室町時代から大正時代までの日本絵画の珠玉の絵画たちを生で観れ、しかも撮影可能！雪村、狩野派、歌麿、北斎、春信、写楽、若冲、等々の日本の宝達が、こんなにも海外に流出してしまっていたのか！と、驚愕しながら鑑賞しました。今後、見る機会は無いだろうと思い、1時間かけてじっくりと鑑賞しました。 2Fの常設展は、美術館所蔵の、ワイエスやモネ、シャガールの西洋絵画、関根正二と岸田劉生らの日本近代洋画、斉藤清の版画等が展示されていました。 館外はレンガ調の外壁と赤い鉄板葺きの背後の信夫山と調和した外観。館内も天井が高い吹抜けのホールと木壁で落ち着いた内装です。 ‘21 10月にドラえもん展の企画展を拝観しました。また、大多数が撮影、拡散可能！でも、撮るのを忘れて見惚れてしまう展示品でした。28人の珠玉のアーティストのそれぞれのドラえもん。村松隆さんのポップな絵から益田セバスチャンさんの巨大ぬいぐるみ、奈良美智さんの訴えかけるようなリボン無しのドラミちゃん、など誕生から50年以上経つキャラクターの偉大な存在感をまざまざと見せつけられました。11/23までの展示なので機会があればまた観たいです。

かがくいひろしの世界展、行ってきました。水島先生、沖本先生の講演会聞かせていただき、改めてかがくいひろし氏の絵本に対する思い、支援学級教員に奉職されたこと、学生時代、わずか4年と短い絵本作家生活とその業績をみる機会に恵まれて、幸せでした。いい出会いは、いい結果をもたらす、まさにそのようなお話をお聞きしました。できるならば、アイデアノートにある、また、各編集者の方の机に眠っている未完の作品が、作品として世に出てほしい、そんな思いがこみ上げる展示品の数々、満たされた時間に包まれた一日（観覧は2回、花巻1回）を過ごさせていただきました。展示も見やすく、だるまさんも変わりに変わりましたが、今の形になり、出版されたとのこと、楽しそうに話されていました。作者ほ、優しい方だったのですね。自分も学童で、1年生に、絵本を読む機会があります。絵本の楽しさや世界観、作者の思いを伝えられたらいいならと思います。一度見学されることをおすすめしたいのです。

【かがくいひろしの世界展】が開催されていると 知り、子どもがだるまさんシリーズが好きなので 土曜日の午後に見に行きました。 どの作品も素晴らしくて子どもと見に行けて 良かったです。 作品の展示とは関係がありませんが 見にきている方に対して感じたことです。 親子で来ている方が多くグッズを購入するのに みなさん並んでいて長蛇の列になっていました。 ピリピリした雰囲気というのか… 何人かお子さんが泣いてしまった時に その泣いている子の方を振り返ったり、 じーっと見てる方が多くいて何で泣かせてるの みたいな雰囲気がとても怖かったです。 見にきて楽しかったねって気持ちが少し嫌な 気持ちになってしまいました。 また、改善できるならしてほしいと思うことが 商品の出されているテーブルの通路の幅が 子どもを抱っこしてだと狭く感じすれ違うのが 大変だったので気持ち幅広くしてほしいと 思いました。(ベビーカーの方もいたので)

Description
Fukushima Prefectural Museum of Art is a museum located in Fukushima City, at the base of Mount Shinobu. It shares a campus of over 60,000 square meters with Fukushima Prefectural Library. The two facilities were established together in July, 1984.
