The best Indian curry I have had in Japan till date. I have had Indian food in many restaurants in Tokyo, Kyoto and Chiba. But this cute little dining bar located a few hundred metres from Fukushima station is one of the best Indian curries I have had ever. It is not the toned-down Japanese version or the Nepali version that most others serve. We had a nice chat with the chef-cum-brother duo. I was so sure that they were Indians!!. But they were japanese and had visited north and western India and it speaks in their creations. The spices were just the right amount, definitely not hot, but aromatic, exactly like Indian curries should be. I had the Pork Vindaloo, Butter Chicken, Coconut Shrimp Curry and the European Chicken Curry. The naan was not freakishly large, but perfectly sized so that it stayed soft till the last bite. I could find dried red chillies, julienned ginger, that spoke how authentic they recreated the original dishes. We had a lovely chat and would definitely comeback every time I come to Fukushima. I would recommend this as a must,...
Read moreIn Fukushima city, very less authentic Indian restaurant (I didn't find anyone yet)
Well this place was recommended by one of my friend, runned by Japanese chef (very humble & nice guy)
They have fixed curry set, not like indian restaurant types you can soon & alter your dish,
Taste is very much like japanese taste ( not so spicy) mild curry taste served with Rice (Japanese) & naan,
But I loved the way papper was served along with food.
If you are vegetarian then difficult for you get pure authentic vegetables curry.
For drinks I order hot tea & trust me taste is blown me away, I am the guy who drink tea almost everyday,
Tea was more of cinnamon taste with green cardamom.
Only 1 star less becuase Nan could be freshly made (but understand constraints of owning & operating tandoor), Spice need to be more for indian types if as per indian.
Overall great for all efforts with authentic Indian plates &...
Read moreI went for lunch around 1PM. Had to wait for about 10min maximum which is quite reasonable considering how small the restaurant is.
I ordered the Nan plate with 2 types of curry and a Mango Juice. The first curry I had was 海老マサラ and it was decent at best but the shrimps were perfectly cooked. Then I had キーマカレー which was ok, definitely not as bland as the previous curry. The rice was SO dry...it was a huge letdown for me...
I'm willing to give this place a second chance in the future, hoping this was just a bad day.
I have to say: the staff was really nice and smiley which is always great. I...
