This place was blooming beautifully early September (we parked at the Oyamazumi Shrine). We were going to the shrine first, but noticed the scenery across the street and decided to walk a little further.
We came across another memorial dedicated to Tsuruhime Ohori. From what the other garden memorial put together, it seemed that Tsuruhime was a renowned warrior priestess that defended her home from invaders.
She slew the commander who mocked her, and in the ensuing battle, she lost her lover. It is said that she discarded her armor (where today it supposedly rests at Oyamazumi Shrine), took a boat out to sea, ringing a bell still grieving for her lover. And that people can still hear it sometimes...
