This enchanting bamboo grove in Shuzenji carries centuries of history under its towering green canopy. 【伊豆・修善寺「誕生日旅行2023其の壱」温泉街の桂川に沿う遊歩道や竹林の小径を散策】

妻の誕生日旅行は、コロナ禍で家族に迎えた愛犬ショコラと過ごす伊豆旅行に決定。初日は、「修善寺温泉街」の散策からスタートしました。私たちの住まう浜松と修善寺は同じ静岡県内でありながらも、その距離はおよそ170kmにも及び、車移動で2時間半ほどの移動となります。修善寺温泉は今から約1,200年も前に弘法大師が発見された温泉で、湯どころ伊豆の中でも「最古の温泉」となり、代表格の温泉街です。

旅館裏手には石田畳の回廊があり、桂川沿いを散策できます。

この日の気候は初冬といえど、過ごしやすい緩やかな日和となりましたが、今年は秋の訪れが遅れ、寒暖差がないせいか、紅葉にはまだ少し早い時期となりました。その中でも、紅く染まる紅葉を見つけると嬉しくなるものです。

ワンコもリード付きでマナーを守れば、一緒に桂川周辺を散策可能。ゆっくりと休憩を挟みながら回っても小1時間ほどの距離なので、程良い散策ルートとなります。

真っ赤に染まる縁結びの橋と紅葉が映える風景は、日本の風情を存分に味わえる最高のロケーション。

桂川には5本の橋が架かっており、5つ全ての橋を願いをかけながら渡ると恋が実ると言われています。橋にはそれぞれの別名があり、出会って、結ばれ、寄り添って安らぎを感じるというもので、信じるか信じないかはあなた次第ですが、恋愛成就祈願には持ってこいの橋となります。

何度訪れても、心安らぐ素敵な場所となり、今年は愛犬ショコラも一緒で更に思い出深い散策となりました。

艶やかな朱塗りの「楓橋（かえでばし）」と「桂橋（かつらばし）」の間の「竹林の小径」は特におすすめの観光スポット。

こちらは、1994年から3年間の月日を費やして整備された桂川沿いの散策道は、左右に見事な竹林が並びます。

昼の陽射しを浴びながら、青々とした竹林も凛とした様子が伺えますが、日没後はライトアップされるため、幻想的な夜の雰囲気もまた素敵なことでしょう。

A photographers delight, this is a wonderful walk in a well maintained bamboo forest alongside the Katsura river. This walk, and all of Shuzenji Onsen, gets very crowded on weekends and holidays so if you can visit during off peak hours you will be rewarded. Don't forget to treat your feet in one of the public foot baths at the East end of the walk and treat yourself to the delicious Wasabi soft ice cream! And bring your camera. Highly...
