The commute from Shinjuku to Kawazu took about 2.5-3 hours. I went there on 25 Feb 2019 and there’re massive row of blossoming cherry blossoms all over the place! The path is long enough for you to take a lot of photos. And during this period, from February to early March, many snacks and shops are opened to celebrate the blossoming of sakura. The pink fish-like red bean snacks is a must-eat! You can probably spend around 2 hours in this area. P.S. make sure to check the train schedule before leaving as there will be no more fast train...
Read moreI visited the areas from 1Feb to 4Feb 25. It was too early to see the cherry blossom along the riverside. Flower buds were just growing on the trees and there were a few trees with a few flowers. The trees and view were still brown although wild flowers on riverbank were blooming. However there were a few trees of different species around the area were beautifully blooms. 3rd week of Feb would be a better time for visits to enjoy the pink colour view. There are pop up shops where you can different snacks and festival food.
