Ikuta Ryokuchi Park is a small hill with forest trails, observation decks and parks. Visitors can take Odakyu Line and it's approximately 30 minutes from Shinjuku to Mukogaoka-Yuen Station. From the station, it's about 10 minutes walk to the North Gate of the park. Following the trail, you will reach the Mt.Masugata square with a small park and an observation deck. In late March, visitors can see both the beautiful Sakura and a lovely view of Tokyo. If you are lucky, you may even be able to see Mount Fuji. There are also other tourist spots including multiple museums.

Read moreI have been to Japan twice and have visited Nihon Minkaen both times, and both times have been fascinating. I have never been able to see every building. It is amazing to see how preserved these homes are, and the staff are wonderful. We were allowed by special permission to go into some of the areas otherwise off limits, and staff even provided a small grass origami to us this time. The walk is beautiful and relaxing and it's usually very quiet. I strongly recommend this place to anyone and everyone visiting Tokyo as Kawasaki is only about an hour away and very simple to get to. You won't regret it if you enjoy history...
Read moreAbsolutely fabulous place to spend a beautiful day. Wear something long because there's plenty of hungry mosquitoes. Planetarium is good enough. The park is huge and let's you feel like in a remote forest. When going through the folk museum, entry ¥500, you'll completely forget that you're 3 min away from the hustle and bustle of the city near by. One of the best open air museums within city's limits. Forest, birds singing, houses like they were 300 years ago....
