A beautiful walk! You can start from Kurama station, which takes you through all the incredible shrines Mt. Kurama has to offer. The beginning has a lot of stairs, so be aware (to skip a part you can take the cable car, but then you would miss some beautiful spots!) At the beginning (Niō-mon) there is a gate where you pay for a ticket. When you reach the main shrine (with some beautiful cherry blossoms around it) you can go to the most left corner where you can continue towards Kibune shrine, which will take you along the root path! Read moreWe took this trail from Kifune Shrine to the main Kuramaderu temple (it takes about 45 minutes), and although it is quite steep and involves a lot of stair climbing, we really enjoyed the hike and the views from the temple. (It can be accessed by crossing the small red bridge just down the road from the Kifune Shrine - see the attached picture.)
