こちらには幕末、前橋藩松平氏の家臣であった志賀敬内(信吉)の墓があります。 志賀は文武両道に秀で、砲術も心得た多才な人物であったといいます。 幕臣でありながら尊皇攘夷を唱え、藩主に建白書を差し出しましたが、かえって勘気を蒙り、隠居を命ぜられました。 敬内は怯まず、薩摩や水戸の浪士と図って、前橋城を乗っ取ろうと計画。事前に発覚して捕らえられ、切腹して果てました。 ただ、純情な人柄は藩主にも愛されたらしく、松平直克は助命しようと急使を走らせましたが、間に合わなかったといいます。 世のために心尽くしの甲斐もなく はかなく庭の雪と消えなば 享年五十歳。潔さを思わせる辞世を残しています。 敬内の妻は気丈な人だったようで、夫を捕縛した非礼を叱り、縄を解かせて紋付き袴の服装を整え、大小を差させ、死地に向かう夫を送り出したと言われています。 故郷前橋に、尊皇攘夷の志士がいたとは知りませんでした(^_^ゞ 敬内の墓は、本堂西側の墓地に入って、すぐ左手にあります。

浄土真宗大谷派のお寺です。一見、普通の町寺ですが、本尊様は室町期の作。寺宝には豊臣秀吉の書状などがあり、その歴史は古いです。 また、鐘楼には室町時代の作風がうかがわれる釣り鐘も見落としてはならないですね。

浄土真宗大谷派の妙安寺は前橋市街地の再開発によるのか寺域が分かりにくい不思議な境内です。 本堂も大きなマンションとの対比で不思議な風景ですが、豊臣秀吉書状などの宝物は貴重なモノを所蔵しています。 また何気なく吊るされている梵鐘は群馬県指定文化財です。室町時代の様相を残している貴重な品だと言う事です。
