Incredible park to visit. Starting at a 4 star hotel offering an amazing array of fine food to satisfy even the most particular custom. Then a beautiful stroll down to a beach area to enjoy a satisfying swim with the water never under 25 degrees. Further to the Ocean Expo Park where there is a paid tour of the museum demonstrating marine information leading to the largest aquarium in the northern hemisphere with hundreds of fish including 2 whale sharks, sharks, rays and incredible species of fish. Then you walk out to the dolphin show a seated area where dolphins perform incredible routines. There are also other pools with other marine life such as manatees and large turtles. Absolutely a must see which is available via Naha tour buses.

The overall aquarium itself is okay, I wouldn't say that it is extraordinary just because the attractions at it are pretty similar to other aquariums I have been too. The dolphin show was okay, it was something that you would normally see at like a SeaWorld or some other theme park. The actual "show" where you see the whales was a disappointment because it was just a 20 minute video showing all the different creatures that live in the ocean around Okinawa. Also if you are a tourist staying on the south side of the island it is almost a 2 hour drive if you don't take the express way. If there was some other cool attractions at the aquarium I would increase my rating from a 3 to 4, but other than that it was just a standard aquarium.

There is way more to Okinawa’s Chiraumi Aquarium than meets the eye. The aquarium holds 7,500,000 litres or almost 2 million gallons of water. It’s part of a colossal 700,000 sq m park complex created in 1976 for a World Oceanic Expo. This is the highlight of any visit to Okinawa. Plan to spend a full day, especially if you are bringing children. It’s educational, it’s experiential and it’s entertaining. There is an Okinawan Village, the Tropical & Subtropical Arboretum and the Oceanic Culture Museum, a Planetarium, Sea Turtle Pool, a Manatee Pool, a Dolphin Show and more. This park is the pride and joy of Okinawa, so beautifully designed - everywhere you turn, there’s a photo to be taken.
