Japanese Christian Museum — Attraction in Nagoya

This museum gives information about the persecution of Christians in this area and contains many interesting and authentic historical artefacts. Over 200 Christians were martyred on these grounds and a monument has been erected to their memory. This museum doesn't seem to be very well publicised or well-known but it is a must-see for Christians or anyone interested in the history of Christianity in Japan. Exposition particulièrement intéressante sur le culte caché de la foire chrétienne et sa répression. Temple splendide à la décoration extérieure très riche et à l'intérieur magnifique avec une statuaire de grand intérêt. Une mention particulière pour l'accueil très chaleureux. Entrée de 100 yens symbolique. A recommander : solliciter le timbre Goshuin pour lequel on laissera 300 yens. 栄国寺の境内にあります。古渡城址の北になります。

この近くで多くのクリスチャン(200人余り)が処刑されたと思うと、とても怖くなりました。家康の九男尾張藩主徳川義直様は、キリシタンを護られていたのですね。キリスト教に寛容だったようです。家康も最初は寛容さを示していましたが、その後キリスト教を徹底弾圧しましたので、九男の義直も幕府の命令に従わざるを得なかったようです。幕府にとって、キリスト教は脅威だったのでしょうか。

追記：キリシタンに寛容だった、と言うよりキリスト教を保護した信長が元服した城(古渡城址)が近くにありますが、皮肉にもこの近く(千本松原)が処刑場になってしまいました😭千本松原は、信長が桶狭間の戦いで祈願し、勝利したお礼に松の木を千本寄進した所です。
