Kouri Island – A Peaceful Okinawan Paradise
Kouri Island is one of the most beautiful and peaceful spots I’ve visited in Okinawa. Just a short drive from Nago via the stunning Kouri Bridge, this small island offers crystal-clear turquoise waters, soft white sand beaches, and breathtaking coastal views that feel like something out of a postcard. The drive across the bridge alone is worth the trip—it gives you a panoramic view of the ocean that’s absolutely unforgettable.
Kouri Beach is perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and relaxing. The water is shallow and calm, making it great for families or anyone who wants a laid-back beach experience. There are also a few spots for snorkeling if you bring your gear.
Don’t miss Heart Rock, a famous natural rock formation on the north side of the island. It’s a great photo spot, especially during low tide. There are also a few charming cafes and food stands nearby offering local Okinawan snacks like sata andagi (fried doughnuts) and refreshing mango drinks.

There is a long bridge going to the island and it has a spectacular view.
