This place has amazing views of the ocean and on a sunny day, the water is beautiful. The automatic golf cart takes you around a nice uphill garden with views which is the entrance to the observatory. The shops are clean and well staffed. Everyone inside the building was friendly and helpful, but the man who is on top of the hill letting passengers of the cart on and off was extremely rude and was visibly agitated doing his job. My assumption is that he may have had some bad experiences with some foreign visitors, but if you are taking employment in a spot that is a designation for tourists, there should be a certain expectation that there will likely be rude customers here and there. I had little children with me who expressed their concerns as the gentlemen was waving them off in a highly unprofessional and agitated manner. If not for this experience, we would have given this spot a 5 star. If you are a visitor, please be aware of your actions as how you behave can have repercussions for everyone who comes after you. What is normal in your country is not normal everywhere and if you are visiting as a guest in someone’s country, please be respectful. For the Kouri Ocean Tower management, please speak with your staff so they are not treating everyone visitor with discontent and disrespect because they had a bad experience. Innocent visitors who are respectful and spent a lot of money to visit should not leave feeling like they are in a hostile...
Read moreWe visited the Ocean Tower today in hopes of good weather, but sadly it did start to rain. The rain did not dampen our experience though! The cart ride up to the tower was a pleasant surprise! We got to listen to interesting facts about the island and tower in English while enjoying the beautiful view! Upon entry, I was excited to see a shell museum with so many shells- several of which I had found on beaches here in Okinawa! If you are a beachcomber this little museum is a must see! We were able to climb all the way to the top of the tower while stopping at each floor to catch the view. Even woth clouds in the sky, ot was beautoful. There is a bell to ring with your special someone at the very top. There was a loop of information with pictures that you could walk thru before climbing the tower that looked interesting, but it was in Japanese. It looked like it told the history of the island and maybe something about events held there. We did eat lunch at the restaurant on site and it was fantastic. The specialty tower drinks were fun. I would like to mention that the gentleman helping people cross the road directly in front of the entrance was SO NICE and very welcoming! In addition, the men working the carts you ride up to the tower were also so very nice! It was a fun way to spend a couple hours. We will have to come back on a sunny day just to get a...
Read moreInteresting tower where they included a small buggy ride ~3 mins from the foot of the carpark to the foot of the tower. Just like any other attraction they will take a photo of your group at the start of riding the buggy and try to sell you the photo when you enter the tower which I really disliked! The tower was pretty basic where you can get a pretty good view of the bridge and its surrounding sea. It gets pretty cramped in the building when there are too many visitors. There's a gift shop and seashell display on the first floor. Viewing floor is on the 4th or 5th. Top floor would be open-air with a bell where many people would be queueing up to take photos which results in a human traffic jam and there's no crew on top to supervise the situation. After exiting the tower, there will be another gift shop. Free parking is available but the parking space is very cramp so big...
