MEGA Don Quijote Bentencho — Attraction in Osaka

Place is very big, you can not missed it since the sign is huge. 1st floor mostly snack, 2nd floor electronic, 3rd floor clothing. You could almost find anything here. The staff who handle tax free was a very nice lady. I did not bring my passport but i did register tax free QR code from visit japan web. She is willing enough to try to scan it. And it work. A day before this i have to pay all my purchases without tax free at Universal Studio Japan because the staff who work there insist i need a physical passport to claim tax free. They dont even want to try to scan it. Just FYI, when they scan your passport for tax free, they scan the landing permission which have the QR code. The very same code that you are require to upload to visit japan web when you apply for tax free QR code. So if you forgot to bring your passport when you made your purchases but you have already upload it to visit japan web, insist them to scan it. Because this lady at mega don quijote just proved to me that the tax free QR code work faster and...

I visited 4 other chains with no issues this trip (did several times my other trips too), have never had issues except this store today. From the beginning, the staff member who assisted us was quite rude, waving us over as if we were an inconvenience. When I presented my government-issued license, which clearly matched my signature on my passport, she claimed it didn’t match my card. Unsure why I’d want to be dodgy with a 17,100¥ purchase….

I’ve had no problems at six other tax-free stores in addition to the other Don Quijote stores this trip, so it was disappointing to experience such unfriendliness here. While I understand that there can be policies in place, I wish I had heeded the negative reviews I read beforehand. The translator was polite, but the manager seemed unable to address the situation with his staff member. Overall, I found this store to be unwelcoming to foreigners. Just to be clear I have never left a review like this, I have felt welcomed by everyone in Japan...

There’s more on each level but i’m just too lazy to type it out. Like this place alot because it is not as pack as other outlet. No rimowa here.

Nothing fancy for brand but the chinese speaking male staff was very helpful in assisting us. He even assisted us for tax refund. This staff deserves something from the company. He went an extra mile to assist customer and went beyond what was required. THUMBS UP!

Oh and yeah, cooked food clearance starts at 6ish. Everyone snatching for discounted...
