Covering around 65 hectares, Nagai Park has facilities for sports and outdoor activities, including Yanmar Nagai Stadium, known for being the site of the Osaka International Women's Marathon, held every winter. Construction of the stadium was initially planned for 1928, but was canceled due to the war. After going through the phases of a sports field and a velodrome, large-scale works on the park began in 1959 and were completed in the same year. The park has two sports stadiums, soccer fields, swimming pools, tennis courts, exercise facilities and a sports center for the disabled. It also has a botanical garden with about 1,000 species of trees and flowers and a natural history museum that charge entrance fees. This is definitely one of the most beautiful parks in Osaka. Read moreNagai Park was an unexpected highlight of my trip—I accidentally stumbled upon it on a random Sunday afternoon and was so glad I did. The vibe was absolutely lovely, with people picnicking, jogging, skating, biking in the skate area, playing soccer, walking pets, and just enjoying the outdoors.
I even saw some unique pets like a bunny and a pig, which made it even more fun to walk around. It’s the perfect place to take a stroll, relax, have a picnic, or just do some good old people-watching.
There are a few cafés around, though they were a bit busy when I passed by. There’s also a Teamlab Botanical Garden area, but it requires separate tickets, and unfortunately, it was sold out when I visited.
Overall, a fantastic park with a peaceful, lively atmosphere. I’d definitely go back if I...
Read moreA great place to visit if you're looking to get some fresh air or just escape the crowds of the usual touristy areas of Osaka. While most areas of the park are free, I wanted to visit the Nagai Botanical Garden which isn't. However, 300 yen for admission to this area of the park as well as the Osaka Museum of Natural History was so affordable! That's less than 2 vending machine drinks. No complaints from me there. After walking around for a few hours I felt recharged and ready to tackle the crowded areas of the city again. Would love to visit in the Spring and see all the...
