Quite impressed with this salon. I was looking for a place that would take me in last minute as I was flying back to the states in 4 hours and the manager, Miyuki responded within a minute on google messages. She mentioned she was pretty full that day, but after I mentioned I didn’t need any fancy design work, she was able to squeeze me in.

I probably would have been late to my appt if Miyuki didn’t advise me to follow the directions posted in her instagram highlights—the directions are extremely clear there. Thank you!

I showed up early and Yuri (I don’t know the spelling) worked on my gel manicure. She was very detailed with my nails and continued to ask if the shape, color, and design was satisfactory.

What I was most impressed by was the level of detail to applying the polish + top coat. She applied a thick glop of top coat and used her brush to disperse the gel evenly by guiding the gel with the tip of her brush in vertical top to bottom pattern, going for middle to left and then middle to right. The application approach made my top coat flawless!

My old gel manicure I had done in the states was chipping away pretty badly. I looked up a salon in Osaka that was foreign friendly and came upon Risate. It’s a private salon so appointments are a must. The salon is located upstairs I believe on the 5th floor. Inside it is very clean and brightly lit. The nail technician greets you at the door and helps you set aside your belongings before taking a seat. She speaks perfect English since she used to live in Vancouver. We decided on a French manicure using my natural nails based on the picture I showed her. She was very gentle with my nails, talked me a little into the process, and didn’t rush through like my last manicurist did. I had a nasty cough that kept disrupting our session, but Miyuki was so understanding and even gave me some water to help relieve my throat. The result of the manicure came out beautifully and much nicer than what I had on before. It was 8600 yen in total. I was exploring Dotonbori and wanted to have my ugly old set removed. After getting turned down by so many local nail salons as they only do appointments (completely my bad), this awesome salon took me in. I forgot to ask my nail tech’s name but based on other comments, I think her name is Miyuki. She spoke great English and was very thorough with the process. She took time taking off my old set, was extremely detail-oriented and made sure my desired shape was perfected. I have gone to so many salons in the US and other countries and this is by far the best manicure I have ever had. I told her I wanted something neutral and simple and the result is spot on. The shape, the color, the design, everything was just perfect.
