This is one of my favorite spots during my trip to Kyoto. Please buy the package ticket from JTB Kyoto which covers the whole trip from Kyoto to Mount Hiei, bus fare on Mount Hiei which brings you to the peak and entrance fees for Enryaku Ji.

The station has second and third floor which you can go to and very beautiful scene of the whole lake biwa and Otsu city ....

The mountain top station of the Sakamoto cable car was an excellent place to view the lake Biwa. The roof top was amazing and easy to access. The railway staff are extremely friendly and helpful. There are several stamp rally at the station, including EXPO ones. As in August 2025. Highly recommended. Especially the Enryaku-ji temple is 10 minutes walk away...
