Visited August 2025 I didn’t like that there is no place for eating in the museum except for the restaurant. As a Muslim, I couldn’t use the restaurant and bought food that I can eat from the supermarket. I was shocked that there were signs at the rest area that don’t allow eating there. I had to take our bento boxes and eat standing outside the building which was not convenient. I hope they can change this or at least provide Muslim and English friendly meals at the restaurant. The museum itself is OK and the kids will enjoy a lot. There is one big exhibition hall with several scientific experiments and a planetarium show which was good. When you book tickets through the machine, there is no English option so please be careful that there are cheaper prices for Otsu city residents and slightly higher prices for non-residents. For example, the permanent exhibition is for 150 for adult residents of Otsu city and 200 yen for non residents.
The planetarium show is popular, it was almost full although we went on a weekday. The website mentioned the 2 p.m. show is from elementary school but they actually let younger kids to enter
Toilets are OK with some units having a wash let...

Google hours said it was open, the website also said it was open, nothing anywhere indicated that it was closed. Parking was non-existent. The only notice it had was that it was closed for the day (Sunday). Ended up spending the rest of the day at a...
