Ikaho onsen is not as famous as some of the other onsen within a few hours drive of Tokyo but it's worth a visit. One of Japan's oldest onsen. The rusty brown waters which run through the town and many of the hotels are the town's standout feature. The steps running through the center of the town lead to the hot spring source. 渋川駅や関越道の渋川伊香保ICの方面から来る道と、高崎の方向・水沢うどんの集落方面から来る道の、伊香保温泉の直前でちょうどぶつかるY字路にあります。 立地上その交差点は観光シーズンの土日は基本渋滞しているので、狭い駐車場からの出入りは、水沢方面は簡単ですが、伊香保温泉方面は信号待ちの間にうまく前に入れさせて貰ってください。 行政の外郭団体なのでしょうか、天下りの匂いがしなくもないですが、建物の入口から入ると受付はあるものの誰もいませんでした。 狭い建物内をうろちょろしつつ埒が明かないので、受付の奥にある事務所的なところに声掛けすると人が出てきてくれました（この辺が行政っぽい）。お土産が買える場所を聞くと...
