Went here on the advice of a very helpful taxi driver, Mr Uchida (內田君), who informed us that the favourite hanami site of locals was Senjogahara Park. The park was the hill top, with a lot of sakura trees dotted all over the hill. A lot of locals enjoyed the best moments of hanami here, BBQ or just simply sat under the tree. 戦場ヶ原公園は下関で1番の桜の観光スポットであり 満開 時には 公園一帯が桜に覆われる　その姿は圧巻 また 展望台からは市街地が一望できる さらに 園内には日中戦争 戦死者慰霊の忠霊塔が建立されている

駐車場も完備されておりお花見の期間になると忠霊塔の前にある広場が駐車場として解放されるので　合わせると約200台のキャパとなる 駐車位置については　市からの駐車整理の方の指示に従えば問題なし また公園内には トイレが完備されてはいるが　お花見の期間には簡易トイレも設置されている 飲酒 される方もいらっしゃる...

桜はまだ全く咲いていませんでした。 遊具が新しくて安心して使用できます。 場所はちょっとわかりにくいです。 しかし、展望台への階段や展望台の壁が一部コンクリが崩れています。怪我につながるおそれがあるなと思いました、修繕されるといいのですが。 展望台からは海が眺められてとても見晴らしが良かったです。 野良猫がたくさんいて、餌をあげているような器もありました。駐車場にたくさんいるので、入庫の時は注意してあげたほうがいいと思います。

春には桜が満開になり多くの人が訪れる公園です。 日中戦争で亡くなった方を 戦前、ドイツ人メッケルが設計した市内で最も大きい規模の要塞があったようで、我が国の要塞のモデルにもなっていたようです。 別名　旭陵という名前で麓の下関西高校の校歌にも使われています。 また、下関西高校の卒業生の同窓会名も旭陵同窓会と言われています。 日中戦争～第二次世界大戦の戦没者を追悼するために建立された忠霊塔もあります。
