Tenri University Sankokan Museum — Attraction in Tenri

Quite impressive museum attached to the university. Artifacts on display extend from ancient Japanese to the world, including eastern Asia as well as Latin America. This museum is known for excellent special exhibitions. Well planned and very detailed. Sometimes not enough space, even this museum building is three story high. Keep your eyes for the next one. Good 20 min Walk from the Tenri station. You can take an advantage of riding the school bus, of the school is in session. All access and schedule info spelled out in their HP. Plan ahead...

天理教の2代目の教祖(真柱と呼ぶ)によって1930年に創設 天理大学附属の、博物館のようなところです。 テーマは『祈り』だと思いました。 天理教を海外に布教させるために、海外に渡った折に、海外の生活文化を表す物を、物々交換、あるいは、信者の寄付で買い取り、日本に持ち帰り博物館を作ったということです。
