Jazzy Sport Music Shop Tokyo — Attraction in Tokyo

I heard about Jazzy Sport Records from a coworker and I was very interested in checking it out. I made a special trip just to go check out Jazzy Sport Records. While I was there casually browsing the records, the staff was staring at me the whole time. Finally the staff member walks up to me and says very rudley “Handle the records carefully!”. I was a bit surprised by his remark but I said “OK” and didn't understand what he could have possibly meant as I wasn't looking through the records any different than anyone was. So I kept looking through the records and the staff member kept staring at me. I was feeling a bit paranoid by being watched so closely but I wasn't doing anything wrong and since I came all the way out there just to check out this records store I felt that I would just finish looking. I looked over to the guy beside me to see if he was handling the records any differently than I was but he was just browsing the same as me. So I wondered why only something was said to me and not him. And why was I the only one who was being watched. My girlfriend entered the store while I was shopping and she asked the staff member if she could go to look at the second floor and the staff member said very rudley and loudly, “NO!!!”. Upon finishing up looking at this store the staff member kept staring at us while we were about to leave. He gave us a very angry stare as if he wanted to fight me or something. I don't understand what his problem was.

I have been buying records since 1995 from record stores all over the world. I have never ever had such a bad experience and been mistreated as I was by Jazzy Sports Records. In this day and age of MP3's and iTunes, it is very hard for record stores to exist and even become profitable. I have mutiple choices in Tokyo as to where I can buy records, so why would I ever return to a record store who has such unfriendly and rude staff?

I spend a lot of money on records every month and I DJ several times a month but because of this experience I would NEVER buy any records from Jazzy Sport Records. They have completely lost my business. I know that there is a lot of competiton in Tokyo when it comes to record stores and I will make sure that everyone I know and come in contact with knows how terrible the staff at Jazzy Sport Records are. Word of mouth is a very strong way for businesses to become more successful or to lose a lot of business. I have many friends and contacts who work in record stores or are involved in the Tokyo music scene and I will make sure that all of them know that they should never shop at Jazzy Sport Records and I will have them tell all of their friends the same. I will make it known that everyone should boycott Jazzy Sport Records because they treat their customers like they are criminals!

以前からJazzy Sport Recordsの事は友達から聞いていて日本に行ったら絶対に行きたいと楽しみにしていました。ある休みの日にやっと行く機会が出来、お店の中でレコードを見ていたら、いきなり店員さんからの冷たい視線を感じ何なのか良く分からず続けてレコードを見ていると,自分の方に歩いて来て凄く嫌な感じで、“おい、もっと丁寧にレコード扱って”と睨みつかれビックリしましたが、　“はい”　と答えましたが嫌な気分でした。普段通りにレコードを丁寧に扱っていましたし、正直訳が分かりませんでした。始めは自分の扱いが悪いのかと思い店内にいる他のお客さんと比べましたが何も変わりません。自分も15年もレコードをコレクトしているので扱い方は十部に分かっています。その後も彼にずっと睨み続づけられ、あまりにも気分が悪くなりレコードを見るのをやめました。以前から来るのを楽しみにしていましたし、凄く腹立だしい気分でした。その直ぐ後、自分の彼女が店内に入ってきて店員に２階を見ていいですかと聞いたら、その定員の彼は僕の彼女を睨みつけ大きな声で“ダメ”と言い、僕らはその時点で店を出ました。 自分はＤＪでもあり、またレコードコレクターです。この時代世間はＭＰ３を主に買いレコード屋がどんどん無くなっています。ＤＪの世界でもデジタル化されている中、東京にはまだレコード店が沢山残っています。こんな嫌な経験を味わわされ悪いですが、アメリカから来た友達やＤＪ仲間にJazzy Sportを進めることは出来ませんし、非常に残念ですが自分も二度とお客さんとして来店することは無いでしょう。僕が知りたいのはJazzy...

If you like hip hop, nu jazz, nu soul, funk, rare groove. Jazzy Sport might be one of the best records shop in japan. The staff are very nice and welcome, i met Gaku San there, he helps me find ay records that related to the music i listen to, and he always ask me to try every single records in there. It’s nice because not many records shop that allows you to try the records.

And last before i go back to my place, Gaku san gave me baumkuchen cake, and it was supppppeerrr deliciouss! Im not lying 😭 He’s very toughtful 🖤

Jazzy Sport is a great label. Mitsu the beats and Grooveman Spot are two of my favourite producers. Its a shame that my experience in the store was an unhappy one. I found the staff to be dismissive, rude and unhelpful. A lost in translation moment whilst trying to buy records ended up with me being berated by a staff member and walking out empty handed.
