Seijogakuen-mae Station — Attraction in Tokyo

Owned by Odakyu, Seijogakuenmae station, is easy to navigate, with trains going up to Shinjuku in one direction, and down to the coast in the other. Handy for getting into town or visiting Hakone or the beach. The "romance car" train goes from here (you can reserve a ticket online or buy at the station); it's a step up from the normal tube train style but not quite up there with the shinkansen.

There are no safety barriers on the platform as (despite owning supermarkets and property) the company is not as wealthy as some of the others.

The romaji (English) appears only for a few seconds on the overhead boards, and there are no notices in English here (which can be a bind when there's an announcement of a change of platform or delay). Mostly, it's kanji displayed for a long time.

Going out of the station, above the supermarket opposite (top floor), you can get a reasonable view of Mt Fuji on a clear day. The area around the station (and leading down to the river to Toho Studios) is a good place for cherry blossom in the...

The air smells faintly of rain and vanilla bread. Seijogakuen-mae is the refined suburb — wide sidewalks, private schools, and old cafés that serve jazz with their latte.

東京都世田谷区成城６丁目に位置する小田急線の駅で、快速急行以外の列車種別が停車します。当駅が成城大学への最寄駅である他、駅ビルの成城コルティにも直結していて便利な学園都市です。

2016年（平成28年）３月のダイヤ改正以前は区間準急の停車駅であり、梅ヶ丘駅を境に、本厚木方面は各駅に停車していました。現在は廃止されている。 また、当駅の近くには車両基地「喜多見検車区」があり、当駅始発・終着の列車が存在します。

駅名の由来は1927年（昭和２年）の開業前に「財団法人成城学園」が移転し、その要請を請ける形で駅を設置した事です。駅周辺には多くの住宅街があるので、世田谷区のベッドタウンの１つでもある。通学する多くの学生も見られます。

当駅は島式ホーム２面４線を有する地下駅構造で、地上に駅舎を持つ。2013年（平成25年）３月の下北沢駅周辺の３駅が地下化される以前は、小田急線の途中駅で唯一の地下駅でした。複々線区間のほぼ中間に位置し、当駅では急行と各駅停車の緩急接続が終日行われます。

特に、平日の朝夕ラッシュ時間帯にはホームが多くの人達で酷くなる。朝は上り列車が、夕方は下り列車がピークを迎える。 2018年（平成30年）３月のダイヤ改正で通勤急行・通勤準急の停車駅に加わり、準急の全列車と一部の急行が千代田線・常磐線直通になりました。通勤急行・通勤準急は平日朝ラッシュ時間帯の上り列車のみ運行です。千代田線直通の各駅停車も運行スタートした。 ※通勤急行は下北沢・代々木上原・新宿駅に停車。通勤準急は経堂・下北沢・代々木上原駅に停車。千代田線内は各駅停車です。
