The best aquarium in Tokyo! Everything is laid out very nicely, many of the interesting explanations on the plaques next to the exhibits are in both Japanese and English, making it accessible to people who can't read much or any Japanese. There is an outdoor portion for the penguin habitat, as well as small tanks where kids can touch small marine animals like sea urchin. We didn't do that because there was a very long line (typical of Japan), but we did watch the demo at the open tanks inside, where a member of the staff put a small piece of food on a fishing hook and put it in the water, allowing us all to see the fish in the tank swarm to eat it. Such a great idea to show how fish eat! The aquarium is inside a very large park, so you can play and see outside on a nice day. It was very inexpensive too (700 yen for adults, free for kids 0-12 years old). It was very crowded, since we went on a weekend, but it was still acceptable. We spent about 2 hours there, but couldn't see everything as we were tired from jet lag. I would love to...
Read moreBeautiful big aquarium nested in a wonderful park. You should make this a one day trip and first visit the aquarium and then have a picnic in the park or on the beach. Which ever you choose it will be amazing. The aquarium is really nice and if you have kids they will have so much fun here. In addition to seeing many species of fish and marine life you can actually touch some of them. Also, the penguins are always fun to watch. One of my favorite spots in Tokyo especially with the kids. An excellent aquarium especially for the price! The kids always learn so much here! We drive all the way across Tokyo to go here and it is so worth it. It's a great and beautiful place for the family and kids. You can see and even touch different sea creatures here. Brilliant design of the building itself! The fish tanks are classified by the habitats worldwide such as those near Japan, deep in the ocean, or Great Barrier Reef. The introduction of each of them is informative even to kids. This is a place for families...
Read moreVery good place to visit. Recommendation to come here:100%. There were lots of Tuna fish and they were big and fast. Near the Tuna fish there was seating were you could do anything. And at the edge of every row of the seatings, there were some kind of machine-style tablet stand and a tablet(of course). In the tablet(there was no English!) there were some videos which showed some information about the Tuna fish. And there was some kind of section where there was fishes from the deep sea. It was cool. Then there was another section were there were other kinds of fishes. And, at the entrance, there was a big board which was telling some fishes from the very deep sea. The fishes were actually very cool. Unfortunately, after I saw the fishes, the penguins section had been closed. Then, at the last minute, I saw the sea birds(but I don’t know the breed) which was good. And at last the exit. The exit was in the rooftop and had a beautiful view of the sea. Then, at the other side, you can see the view of the...
