愛知県弥富市は金魚と文鳥の街。弥富市の歴史を語る上では、金魚と文鳥は外せません。金魚は種類毎に水槽に展示されています。また、手乗り文鳥である文鳥学芸員の「ぶんちゃん」と触れ合うことも出来ます。弥富の歴史や民俗に関する展示も勿論ありますが、金魚と文鳥がいることから、他の歴史民俗資料館とはまったく違う雰囲気ですね。この資料館オリジナルの弥富金魚カードも無料で配布しています。資料館入口の外側の建物エントランス部分には、2022年10月2日に弥富金魚水族YaToMi AQUAがオープン予定です。

It’s a free museum next to city hall. It’s worth spending 30-60 minutes if you’re in the area; lots of “old tools” that many local museums have. They also have a large display of goldfish - Yatomi city is famous for breeding them- as well as 2 live “buncho” (“Java sparrow” in English). Yatomi also used to be a big breeding place for these birds which were kept as pets all over Japan (not so much anymore). 隣は市役所、2階は図書館。 なのでPの心配は特定日以外なし。 金魚を見たくて来館。 図書館1Fが弥富金魚水族館(やとみアクア)という名称。 メジャーな種ごとに20くらい水槽が用意されている。 願わくば倍の匹数泳がせてほしい。 (ちょびっと淋しい) 有料だが常時金魚すくいできる。 金魚で有名だが文鳥も名産とのこと。 とはいえ鳥籠2つ、合計数羽だけ。 展示をぜひ充実させてほしい。 窓口左にご当地グッズが即売されている。 Tシャツやポロシャツサンプルがハンガーに掛かりデザインなど物色しやすい。 (行政のグッズ売り場としてはまとも) 歴史民俗資料室は特色は感じない。 町全域ぐ伊勢湾台風でやられふた月弱も水が引かなかったという艱難を後世に伝える展示アピールを希望。
