Great for little kids and spend about an hour. For English speakers it's great for looking and it's worth it for the cost. You won't be able to read much as all is in Japanese except for the scientific names.
Fun and cheap nature museum with very interesting sea creatures. They have both live fish and other creatures and stuffed/preserved one to look at. There is a touch pool where you can touch some of the sea creatures like starfish and sea cucumbers. Little on the older side but kids enjoyed it. A fun hour activity. For 16 years old and up it cost about 500 yen for entry and cheaper 6-15 and even cheaper for 4-5 year olds. Free for 3 and under.
Subtracted a star for not having any English signs yet and slightly older facility and some of the tanks you can tell they used to have a lot more fish in it.
There are a couple beaches nearby if you want to take advantage of parking one time. Only pay on the weekend and holidays for about 550 yen. During the peak summer season it is 880 yen for parking.
Overall, worth going there for a morning or afternoon trip. Great for kids and adults. My family will be definitely back again. Great for...
Read moreNice little small-town / local museum. A lot of neat preserved animals to include a really big squid and a "60-armed" octopus (really). About a half-dozen different rooms with themes from prehistoric life, deep sea, tidal zones, local flora, and local fishing history and conservation. Two tidal touch basins outside. My kids favorite part was the hammocks outside where you could look out over the beach. A bit pricy for what it is but worth...
Read moreBizzare museum for taxidermy and water animals. The taxidermy collection is so cool tho even many from deep underwater sea. The museum is small so I hope it has better improvement in the future, especially for ¥600 entry ticket (adult). The souvenir store has limited stock, I hope they also put a lot of things to sell. Sadly the mini zoo (aquarium collection) is kinda gloomy in small space and seems...
