This is a tiny memorial museum for Admiral Perry who visited in Japan long time ago. It’s free to get in! Just by nice park here. 2 stories. There are his statues. The most interesting stuffs are books they exhibit. You can study also here. It has good explanation for kids. Enjoy!! I guess everybody can...

Vaut le détour si vous vous intéressez à l'histoire japonaise, et plus particulièrement à l'ouverture du Japon et au Commodore Perry. Petit bémol... Presque tous les documents sont en japonais...

Vous pouvez approfondir cette visite avec celle du Yokohama Port Museum qui présente une très grande reconstitution de l'arrivée des fameux "bateaux noirs" (maquettes) et surtout avec celle du Yokohama Archives Of History, qui possède une mine de d'illustrations et de documents, le plus souvent traduits en anglais.

ペリー達がアメリカ大統領フィルモアの親書を幕府側に手渡した、会場の跡に作られています。博物館すぐ前の久里浜の砂浜から軍楽隊の賑やかな演奏と共に、彼らが上陸したその瞬間から、いわゆる「幕末」が始まるのです。まさしく時代の転換点となった現場であり、これほど博物館を作るのにふさわしい場所は無いでしょう。 ペリーの旗艦サスケハナ号は排水量が約3700トンもある、アメリカ海軍最大級の巨艦で200～300トンの千石船しか見たことがない民衆は肝をつぶしたに違いありません。 しかし民衆達はただ恐れおののいていた訳ではないようで、江戸からの物見遊山の見物客が殺到して出店もでき、中には商売をしようと小舟をこぎ寄せる者もいたというから、なかなかたくましい。（笑） 博物館見学後は、当時の喧騒を想像しながら久里浜の砂浜に立ち、ペリー気分で周辺を歩き回るのも楽しいと思います。ちなみに久里浜から出航している東京湾フェリーのかなや丸、しらはま丸の全長はサスケハナ号とほぼ同じなので参考にしてください。 今見ると、たいして大きくは見えませんね。（笑）
