The Doumu Palace on the first road of Penang was founded in the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty. Mr. Li, the predecessor, introduced incense to Penang from China. There was no fixed palace address at that time. Every ninth month of the lunar calendar, during the Nine Emperor Gods' Christmas period, they rented houses from people along the first road and built a temporary altar for worship by devotees from all walks of life. This palace has three floors. Except for the auditorium on the ground floor, the gods worshipped on the other two floors are all worshipped in the same way as when the palace was on the first road. The highest level is dedicated to the Nine Emperors, while the middle level is dedicated to the gods. The temples enshrine God Xuantian, King Guangze, Marshal Tiandu, Marshal Li Mansion, Prince Jin Zha, Mu Zha and Nezha Prince, Marshal Zhongtan, Shancai Boyzi, Guanyin Bodhisattva, Grand Uncle Gong and other gods and generals. The Jingsu Hall is dedicated to the Nine Emperors. The name of Jingsu Hall is "Jingsu," which means purity and keeping things pure. During the celebration of the Nine Emperor Gods, only Buddhist practitioners can go to the Jingsu Hall to worship the Nine Emperor Gods. During normal times, anyone can go up. Jingsu Hall can be said to be the most sacred place in this palace. Facing the blue sea, the colour palette of the sea changes with the natural changes of the sun and the moon. Purify your soul, and your mind will be as broad as the ocean. Sacred ceremonies in the palace will be held in the Jingsu Hall. For example, during the celebration of the Nine Emperor Gods, believers can go to the Jingsu Hall in the early morning and afternoon to listen to scriptures. After listening to the sutra, some believers will sincerely kneel down in front of the yellow curtain, prostrate, and pray. In order to maintain the sanctity and solemnity of Jingsu Temple, there are many taboos in the temple. If you need to purify yourself, you must not make any noise. You must also follow the same rules when going up and down the stairs. direction The Nine Emperor Gods Festival celebrates the return from heaven to earth of the Nine Emperor spirits, who are worshipped as one deity known as Mazu, the Taoist goddess of the sea and queen of heaven who represents health, wealth and prosperity. The Nine Emperor God Festival is a series of prayers and events held over 9 days and is celebrated by Taoists on the eve of the 8th lunar month of the Chinese calendar.

Truly amazing with the ceremony. Only happened Once a year . Lunar month of September . During the 9 days have something to offer . If you wish to visit the top floor make sure your dietary is purely vegetarian during the festival . If not only ground floor and 1st floor is allowed. Regarding witnessing the process of cooking the medicine oil , the temple management will announced the horoscopes are prohibited to participate .

Beautifully decorated with profusion of lights, the temple held the ceremonies for the 9 Emperor Gods with chariots, a stage for Opera, a food court with a variety of vegetarian delicacies and ceremonies attended by many devotees.
