My new found place for night market!!
Happening only on every Monday, this market is located amongst a housing estate and it is pretty big with many many different stalls to try! Everyone is very local here and less touristy than other night market/street food in George Town.
Food is very affordable. Both me and my mom only spent 30RM and we tried so many different food! We had Muah Chee, Appom, Coconut shake, durian, char kway kak, kueh kueh, bean curd etc.
Tried the Char Kway Kak with Seafood (RM6) at a stall in the middle part of this market. Took about 20 mins wait. You get a queue number from the stall and you can sit/walk around until your number gets called then they will take your order and serve it to you within 3 mins. Tasted super nice and it has a lot of ingredients! Loads of chai poh (pickled vege) and pork lard that provided the umami boost. Prawns and squids can also be found. Great wok hei. Delicious and worth the wait. I notice other stalls selling this also and they all have their own take on it and I believe they would be delicious too!
One stall selling kueh kueh also quite nice. They have the traditional nyonya kueh which is quite difficult to find nowadays and a lot of local aunties buy from them. Very cheap snack with lots of variety.
I went during the durian season so there were about 3 - 4 stalls selling durian. It's quite a chaotic situation, and would be quite intimidating if you don't really know how to order. Sometimes they might con your money if they know you're not experienced durian buyer. I would suggest just buy the packet/boxed durian which are usually tagged with price.
Would I come back again? YES OF COURSE! I love the atmosphere, people and food. There are still lots more that I haven't try.
PS. it could be a little hard to navigate here but Google Maps is your best friend. I managed to walk from Komtar to here. But taking a grab here...

The Macallum Night Market, located in Leboh Macallum, is quite exceptional. Here, you can find a mix of various makeshift stores selling all kinds of merchandise, from foodstuffs to entertainment. The street market is bustling with stalls from the local community selling different varieties of street food, whether traditional Malaysian hawker delights like char kway teow or nasi lemak, or modern fusion snacks. The affordability of prices and flavors makes it a foodie’s paradise.
Each night market at a certain location can stretch to a mile long. Apart from food, you can buy other types of items be it clothes, accessories, and souvenirs, giving it a touch of uniqueness.
The market is well-organized, though it can get crowded during peak hours. Parking might be a problem since some of the parking lots have turned into store lots, so coming early makes a lot of sense to occupy those few available lots.
Trust me, if you want to experience some cheap thrills, this is the place for you.

There is authentic food like penang laksa, lok lok, char kuay teow, and also trendy food like burgers, takoyaki, and gelato! All of them are super cheap around areoun 6 to 8MYR.
The penang laksa had chewy thick noodles with their iconic mint leaves, pineapple chunks, and onions. I find their soup a bit too watery and without fish, but still delicious!
The prawn paste chicken stall (har cheong gai) has fried foods like friend chicken skin and small crabs. The crabs are okok, quite crunchy and thick shell, not really soft shell crab. Chicken chunks were juicy with that heavy smokey har geong taste. Lor mee was yummy too, with a hint of vinegar in their thickened gravy.
The street is narrow and hard to walk, especially for us when it rained on and off. Nonetheless definitely worth...
