Stopped by this Chinese restaurant for dinner and tried a few of their signature dishes. Overall, the food felt authentic and home-style, though the experience had a few mixed notes — especially considering the price, which was on the higher side for what’s offered.
The fish soup was easily the star of the table. The broth had that milky golden color and a comforting depth of flavor, slightly tangy from the lemon and pickled vegetables. The fish slices were fresh, tender, and well-cooked, with no muddy aftertaste — a definite plus. The light heat from the chilies and peppercorn gave it a pleasant aroma without overwhelming the natural sweetness of the fish.
The stir-fried cabbage with pork came with a nice wok aroma and balanced seasoning, keeping the cabbage crisp and flavorful. The pork slices, however, were a bit tough, which slightly disrupted the texture.
The braised pork with preserved vegetables (梅菜扣肉) was rich and aromatic, layered with soy-based sweetness and the salty tang of preserved greens. The meat was flavorful but a bit firm around the edges, missing that melt-in-the-mouth tenderness.
Service was average — staff weren’t particularly friendly or attentive, though the food arrived fairly quickly. The restaurant wasn’t too crowded during my visit, likely because it was off-peak hours.
While the flavors were generally satisfying and true to Chinese roots, the pricing felt a little steep for the portion and presentation. A touch more warmth from the service and better value for money would definitely make this place more appealing. Still, it’s worth a try if you’re craving authentic Chinese comfort dishes in a calm,...
Read moreI am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service I received at your restaurant yesterday. Unfortunately, my experience was far below the standard I expected, and I feel compelled to bring these issues to your attention.
Firstly, while I was still eating, a waiter removed my dishes without asking if I had finished. When I informed him that I was not done, he suggested that I "take away" the food. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and shows a lack of basic courtesy and understanding of proper service.
Secondly, I understand that the photos on the menu are for reference only, but the disparity between the images and the actual dishes served was extreme. We ordered a steamed egg dish, and the quality and presentation were significantly lower than expected, especially given the high prices charged. I believe that if a restaurant charges premium prices, it should deliver food and service of a corresponding standard. Unfortunately, this was not the case.
Given these experiences, I am highly disappointed and unlikely to return to your restaurant. I hope you take this feedback seriously and work to improve your service and...
Read moreExcellent place (not known and crowded yet) to get authentic China chu char style dishes. Waiter are very friendly too, nice ambience with air conditioning.
Unexpectedly we give this place a try, chef are really from China you can taste from the skills, what's surprising is sometimes an easy dish is the hardest as the saying "a chef skill can only be seen from serving exceptional easy dish with their skillful technique which is easily represented on this tomato egg dish. Chef use pork lard that makes it extra fragrance, plus so different from the outside as it is lean and not super oily like how other china restaurant place does.
辣子鸡 we prefer it to be drier and less wet. Portion can be a little bit smaller than other places, recommend to increase the portion size for 辣子鸡. 蒜香排骨 process of soaking with soda water makes it tender, recommend for people who cannot take spicy.
This place is family friendly and baby friendly as they have baby chairs that can be tied.
Bill comes out RM130+ so it should be on a moderate higher price side for 2 person but still slightly...
