However, a minor hiccup taints the otherwise blissful experience: the intermittent stench of garbage that wafts through certain parts of the botanic park. This issue detracts from the park's air quality, posing potential health concerns for park-goers. It's a somber reminder that while the park's natural beauty thrives, waste management needs improvements to ensure a pristine environment that aligns with the goals of a healthy recreational space.

My hometown here during 70s~80s. Back then everyone stayed here led a very simple life. My friend and myself studied at Primary School here walk to school passed by this lake daily. This lake was kind of scary to us as parent used to warn us not to go near as it is very dangerous and make up some scary storey to scared us away. In fact this tin mining lake was very messy back then as mud surrounded the lake bank making attempt to approach this lake was risky where ones foot will be stuck into mud and could be pulled deep into mud and drown case happened. Since this area been developed, we local were mostly happy to come back for a walk connecting back to this lake and most importantly it gets tidy and pretty with jogging track, playground and other facility being built here. After all these years we developed deep connection with this pretty lake. Sadly we notice that cleanliness of this lake and it's surrounding deterioting where multiple development project being launched here and environment protection countermeasure weren't being taken place. This is causing serious environment impact towards this park inclusive of this pretty lake.

Taking an example rain water (or probably some kind of water discharged by the construction site) flowing through jogging track making these track deterioting very fast. I suppose all developer needed to build sufficient drainage system to discharge any water from site to lake without passing through these track. Also, visitor visiting this place littering everywhere contributing to lake water deteriotion. This causing lake water pollution and reducing oxygen level in water causing fishes died out in numbers. Eventually lake water become acidic (my own guess) and causing bad lake water quality and a layer of algae like greenish yellowish substance covering surface of lake further reducing oxygen from dissolving into water. Fountain in middle of lake doesn't seems helps and most of fishes staying still helplessly sorounding lake bank which torn my heart 😭

Thus I urge all of us concern about this place stand together and create awareness to protect this lovely (do not little, do not fishing, do not throw excessive fish feed into water) place not only for our self but also for our future generation to come 🙏

My Contribution in YSP Industries (M) Sdn Bhd & Greenstopia at Metropolitan Park on October 13, 2024 Thanam Industry Sdn Bhd acted as one of the sponsors for the great event Greenstopia 2.0 conducted by YSP Industries (M) Sdn Bhd at Kepong Metropolitan Park on October 13, 2024. YSP Industries (M) Sdn Bhd was conducting many events, and one among them was this recycling event. Some of our teammates joined me in donning dark green T-shirts on the day of this event. I co-assisted the YSP Industries (M) Sdn Bhd team members on identifying the category of recyclable items to collect in respective recyclable bins. The purpose of the event was to create awareness about the importance of recycling. I informed them of my professional background in the recycling sector. With my 25 years of experience in recycling, waste management, and environmental services, I gave participants precise information on the types of items that can be recycled. I advised them that before making a purchase, they should think about whether it is truly necessary or whether there are any more eco-friendly options available. I've also told them about the environmentally harmful, non-recyclable polystyrene and suggested not to use it. I assisted in packing and sorting the collected items to guarantee proper recycling. For me, recycling has been a path of awareness, action, and continuous learning. I've been involved in recycling through acting, education, and awareness-raising. My strategy for conveying recycling information made participants and YSP Industries (M) Sdn Bhd staffs understand the value of recycling and promoting sustainable practices that minimize waste, recycle goods, and improve Mother Earth. Changes are made when we make better decisions. My approach to educating people about recycling inspired them to use less plastic going forward by helping them comprehend its importance.
