University of Malaya has its roots in Singapore with the establishment of King Edward VII College of Medicine on 28 September 1905. University Malaya was established on 1949 October in Singapore with the merger of the King Edward VII College of Medicine and Raffles College (founded 1929). The growth of the University was very rapid during the first decade of its foundation and this resulted in the setting up of two autonomous Divisions on 15 January 1959, one located in Singapore and the other in Kuala Lumpur. In 1960, the government of the two indicated that the two divisions of the University of Malaya should become autonomous separate national universities, one located in Singapore (later becoming the National University of Singapore) and the other in Kuala Lumpur (retaining the name University of Malaya). Legislation was passed in 1961 and the University of Malaya was established on 1 January 1962.

Read moreWhich kind of joke is this school for international students?. The branch of CIMB bank inside UM don't provide information before opening an account. The person in charge didn't explain the process, they gave me confuse information, with non polite explanations. After reading the official brochure and fees from CIMB website i realized that the information they gave me was inaccurate and fake. Outside branch was so much better. Some teachers barely speak English, not to mention the staff. My homeschool freezed my scholarship because UM faculty of computer science didn't send to me the pdf curriculum of the subjects (3 weeks). Still waiting for it, i thought 7 emails and lots of complains at the reception of the faculty would be enough. The staff didn't explained us about the process if someone get injured inside so we had hard time when we had to take our friend to the hospital, neither the process to enroll subjects, the matrix meaning, or which courses were available for us, so the first 2 weeks of enrollment were just walking from faculty to faculty, to ISC and back. Maybe for local students it works better, but at least for International students the admin its terrible. The kk10 cafeteria kitchen was a mess and dirty and again... no English, so you better learn Malay. The infrastructure and courts are good, maybe the postgraduate and local area its better, that's why i give 2 stars. I hope this comment helps the UM to improve their exchange student experience, and future generations don't have to suffer...
Read moreSon had his dose 1 (Pfizer) vaccine here. He was very impressed with the well organised and systematic and swift process. Crews were very helpful. We anticipated that parking spaces would not be able to handle the surge of crowds so we decided that me the mother to drive and to drop both husband and son at a nearest spot to the hall entrance. All in all, it took about 40mins for son to get vaccinated. There were very clear signages throughout the campus and leading to the entrance of vaccination hall, marshals are also around to direct both car and human traffic. Although there were many people seen heading in and out of the vaccination hall, it was all calm and organised. This campus is truly well kept and clean with greens surrounding the concrete building. There were places near the vaccination hall where you can be seated while waiting with chairs and concrete benches available. I like this campus very much and i can imagine it would be so serene and refreshing to be able to have a slow run around the #UM campus! And a thumbs up to the #Malaysia’s Ministry of Health and the team and all the frontliners for an awesome job done on the vaccination program! All your efforts are truly...
