Malacca Submarine Museum, also known as the Submarine Museum Melaka, is a unique museum located in Malacca City, Malaysia. It is situated near the Taman Melaka Raya area and is a popular tourist attraction in the region. The museum's main highlight is the decommissioned submarine on display, which is the Ouessant-class submarine named KD (Kapal DiRaja) Hang Tuah. The Hang Tuah submarine, formerly known as the Ouessant, was a diesel-electric submarine that served in the Royal Malaysian Navy. The museum offers visitors a chance to explore the interior of the submarine, providing a glimpse into the daily life of submariners and the operational aspects of a submarine. Inside, you can see the various compartments, including the living quarters, control room, torpedo bays, and the engine room. Visitors can also learn about the history of the submarine and its role in the Malaysian Navy. The museum provides informative displays, exhibits, and multimedia presentations to educate visitors about the submarine's operations, its importance in naval warfare, and the contributions of the Royal Malaysian Navy. The Malacca Submarine Museum is an excellent place for those interested in naval history, military technology, or simply looking for a unique museum experience. It offers a hands-on and immersive opportunity to explore a real submarine and gain insight into the life of submariners.

Came here to purposely let my kids experience and see the actual submarine up close. There is none as far as I know at any other places in Malaysia. Pretty easy to find the place. It's an isolated tourist spot about 2km from town. Nothing much nearby. The charges are inexpensive - RM5 for kids and RM10 for adults Malaysian. Foreigner different charges. Besides the submarine, there are 2 retired jets as well. You can enter into the submarine to view some parts of the ship. Once you are inside, it's quite a tight space. At least we normal people can experience the feel being on board. The operator should have install more air conditioning unit if not fan to improve the hot and humid conditions inside for more conducive viewing. Anyway you wouldn't stay long inside. Overall I feel that the exterior of the submarine should have been maintained properly as there are many rusting spots. Very soon the exterior wall will be corroded beyong repair. Whereas for the 2 jets there were being covered under a roof structure. No access to the cockpit. The kids sure will be thrilled if they can sit in the cockpit. Overall our visit is short as there are not much to hang around for. Maybe the state government and operator should create more display and attractions at this place as there are plenty of space.

Location is easy to find as it is situated on a popular beach, plenty of sign board showing the direction along the road. Surrounding area not develop and nothing except open land. Need to pay a small fee for entry and not much landscape except for some trees and shrubs. The main exhibit which is the submarine is preserved in good condition, interior is air con, airy and comfortable. All areas have proper signage but more details explanation will help visitors to understand the function, living condition, its operation etc. It will just take not more than 20 mins to go through the entire submarine, as inside is narrow and can't accommodate too many visitors. There other display are 2 fighter jets, the Skyhawk and F5E which is well preserved. Should have more display of other military equipments like cannon, tanks etc. and also Gardens which will make this place more attractive. Visiting the whole place will take not more than 1 hour.

Probably will never get to see a Submarine otherwise so why not! Small place, has the ticket area and to the right side are two fighter planes (not to sit in or anything) only read info and photo. Then the Submarine is able to enter either end and walk through. Interesting to see the small space they had to live and work in for 54 staff. You can see the missile area, control room, sleeping quarters, kitchen, loos and engine room. Nice to see but only need a short visit of maybe 30 mins up to 1 hour. So foreigner cost is a bit much. They have a drinks vending machine just inside the ticket area that only takes cash it seemed. You could also take the kids on a horse ride for extra cost, in the same grounds. Overall nice to see but value and length of time cannot give a full 5 stars.

It is worth visiting for having a glimpse of the interior of a submarine, and imagining how life would be for the sailors living in such a small little space. You will get to see their engine room, bedroom, pantry and shower room! Not recommended for those with claustrophobia. To get into the submarine, you would need to climb a flight of staircase. So it is not disabled and wheelchair friendly. But certainly good for kids. This is an original and old Royal Malaysian Navy decomissioned submarine. Besides submarine, there are two fighter jets on display too. Entrance fees RM5 for adult, RM2 for children. There is lack of shades here, so can be very hot during sunny days. Parking is limited too. There is a cafe near the entrance.

For rm5 per entry this is a no brainer. The submarine may be old but the interior and gadgets on display is enough to thrill inquisitive kids and curious adults alike. We had the whole place to ourselves on a weekday afternoon around 2pm, which is a plus point because it is only a one way passage inside. Not pleasant if there is a crowd behind egging you onwards when u want to take your own sweet time. Plenty of parking outside, and they have vending machines for drinks and a bit of basic seats if u want to rest. But basically it is just one large submarine in a middle of a field. There are two fighter jets on display at the side too.
