Read moreLovely relatively unknown spot to catch breathtaking sight of nature. Bangau island is home to thousands ( depending on migration period can be 20000) water birds eg little egrets, grey herons, purple heron, little commorants, Asian spoonbil, little heron etc flying back in flocks against picturesque backdrop of setting sun , with thousands perched to roost on the trees ( heronry) Every evening a different sunset like a curtain put up in the skies , changing colors until the ball of sun dips into the horizon. Lovely spot for pics & videos. Knowledgeable guides. When night descends the tour moves on to spot the twinkling lights of the fireflies. Listen to guide’s explanation of why , when, how , what of these flies will make you marvel & wonder at nature & creation . Quick efficient friendly service, staff , comfortable ample space in boats with great views. This is a must stop- over place for family, nature lovers, kids & seniors to visit. I brought 19 overseas friends & all rated in an A/A+. They were just won over by the awesome beauty of this simple place. Add in the delicious udang galah mee in Malay floating restaurant DTepian nearby. Then stop by the bright lighted Leaning Tower of Telok Intan for a light walk or group photo before...
Excellent service and highly recommended! Very helpful and informative English speaking guide, in addition to an attentive and careful boatman. Safe and comfortable ride on a catamaran. Never knew Teluk Intan had such substantial eco wonders. At one point, felt like I was in a National Geographic documentary....so many birds up close on an island untouched by humans and development. The guide even produced pictures of each bird type with clear explanations. Watching the birds returning to roost in various formations in the sky was pretty amazing. And they even provided a marine grade auto focus binocluars so that you can see the birds really clearly (so worthwhile!). We were also lucky enough to catch the sunset and the boatman took special effort to turn around so that we could see the full sunset even though we were heading back in the opposite direction. The guide also explained the history of Teluk Intan to us as we cruised along the river. Great experience! And if I were to return to this area again, would definitely go with this guide/company again for an eye-opening experience in an...

Would you be amazed if you could spot hundreds of cranes flying home in v formation? Thousands of roosting egrets transforming trees into cotton balls? flapping, cawing, screeching, nesting. So much life proliferates on this tiny island.
You couldn't enjoy this sight just 15 years ago because this bird-bombarded island didn't exist. And that's a normal day in the life of Pulau Bangau. You can experience this by signing up for an hour boat tour.
Though, since you're already here, you might as well sign up for a river tour where the boat guide will tell you about the landmarks that dot the river's history: abandoned boat yards, sand dredging ships, temples, old government houses.
We asked for a guide who could speak English. The company, run by a few sisters in the Goh family, obliged by asking Alex to captain our boat. He was always obliging. He handed us fish food to throw into a tilapia fish farm (the only one that wasn't guarded by barking dogs).
The highlight of the boat tour is undoubtedly the trip to Pulau Bangau. Highly...
