You know, I've had BKT for dinner and BKT for lunch but BKT for breakfast is a little strange to be honest. Their operation ceases around lunchtime so the best I think it could represent a heavy brunch. As far as BKT goes their version is heavier on the salt and chinese herbs, in particular dong guai and dang shen while the meaty umami takes a backseat, albeit slightly. I'd say the soup profile is a 40-60 split between herb and umami respectively. Personally I prefer a 25-75 profile, favouring meaty umami. The meat included a mix of pork trotter meat, belly, shoulder, ribs, intestine and stomach with them being tender and flavourful. As for the rest of the dishes the green dragon and bean sprouts was quite nice despite a simple stir fry while the lettuce was also flash fried nicely with superior soy sauce. The fried cuttlefish gong bao style was also pretty good with the right amount of seasoning while the fish was steamed with superior soy sauce, ginger, pork lard and lime, a good combination. The price charged is somewhat above the town's standard as I find the fish and cuttlefish a little overpriced. If the rest of the dishes wasn't included, the BKT is only mid as the stock is quite salty. I also find their table soy sauce was quite sweet, perhaps pre mixed with sweet soy.

The waiter was somehow very hasty and when we wanted to get rice, we requested 2 small rice and 5 big rice, but before we finished our sentences she just walked away and we received all the small rice portions... She also gave us wrong dishes and simply gives excuses "the vegetables sold out, so we give other vegetables" when we asked why dont inform us when it is sold out, she simply said "same price..." We ordered nyonya prawn, dried bah kut teh, steam fish, steam yau mak with oyster sauce (baby lettuce) but we received romaine lettuce (which is not suitable for steam and oyster sauce) The nyonya prawn is the best! Dried bah kut teh is too oily and the meats are all pork belly meat... Should be mixed with non fat meat to reduce the fat oil... Previously, their service was good but for some reason the service...
Read moreThe food was good and the atmosphere was excellent, which we really appreciated. However, one key part of the Bak Kut Teh experience is the ability to refill the soup. Unfortunately, when we asked for a refill, we were told by the aunty that there wasn’t enough soup and refills weren’t available. Strangely, we noticed that regular customers were still given soup refills. This left us feeling a bit disappointed and singled out.
We hope the restaurant can be more consistent and fair in their service—it would really make the overall experience match the quality...
