I am only giving 1 star so that people will take note. We went to the top to the entrance of the temple this morning about 10.30am (which I knew would be closed). Haven't been in years, so just thought we would take a look around. We got out of our car and then got back in within 5 minutes as there was nothing to see, the gate was closed. Another car (faded red proton, maybe saga) pulled up with two men who were barefoot. They got back in their car and tried to block ours when we left. At first, we didnt understand what was happening but then one of them opened the passenger door and was asking us to pass with hand gestures, and when we did, they blocked us again. At this point we were almost side by side so when I saw his face I realised he was high (probably on drugs) and we reversed quickly but of course no where to go behind. Then they reversed as well and stopped and we reversed again and waited. When they reversed my husband quickly found some space and dashed past them. They chased us down (like a movie) to the road linking to the main road and kept driving right behind us until we came to the traffic light and made a sudden U turn and managed to lose them. In all this of course we didnt think of getting the licence plates to make a police complaint. Please be careful. We saw hikers walking down the same road as all this was happening. We believe they were on drugs and wanted to mug us in order to get money. There was also another scooter with two men on it riding around slowly on that road. Probably also looking to score or something. The car probably was waiting and when they saw us go all the way up, followed us. This could have all ended badly for us so please be careful. We saw two female hikers walking down the same road as all this was happening. It's a real shame because I have been to this amazing spot years ago before the temple...
Read morei remember first coming to. this temple 40 year plus ago, there was a white bearded priest who looked like professor Dumbledore, it was still a small establishment and wooden house around, then within next 20 yrs huge structure was built, was slightly teetering to the sides but the evening pooja was a magnificent affair with soul vibrating music played after aarti, gave you goosebumps, then some influence from outside broke down the the big temple and returned to the present small structure, some say Shiva prefers the simple peaceful abode compared to the grand one earlier. Either way, it is a special temple on top of a hill with magnificent views at sunrise and sunsets. Last we went men are strictly required to wear long pants, maintain silence and don't loiter around. The monkeys are hilarious, dont carry handbags with any food, saw one snatch a bag and ran. They get fed by many at entrance, so they can smell your archana banana and ponggal from far. Share food responsibly. Keep cleanliness. Dont jump queue, Shiva is always there. Don't disturb other people prayers and meditation. Dont block others in large groups, it's a small space. Try not to smash coconut near people who are praying. Om...
Read morePersonally, it is a temple of nostalgia for me. My first visit was in 1998, before they planned to rebuild it, and it was broken. (I wish it shouldn't.)
A stunning statue of Arasa Maram Pillayar is positioned before you enter the temple, creating a genuinely pleasant and regal atmosphere. Along with the magnificent Shiva lingam statue, the temple also houses a Murugar idol, a navagraham, and other idols and statues. Despite the temple's modest size, the atmosphere and setting nonetheless radiate serenity and positivity. The priests there are fine; they'll help with anything pertaining to prayers.
With the chilly wind and temperature, it's the ideal spot to meditate. A 260-degree panorama of Kuala Lumpur can be seen from the temple.
The temple's entryway has a small number of parking spaces (1- way). You might occasionally have to park your car outside the temple grounds. Many monkeys with their families can be found wandering about outside the temple grounds. Some individuals donate food for the monkey and pigeons, even if it is advised and legally forbidden to do so.
Overall, one of Malaysia's magnificent and stunning...
