This is a popular Nasi Kerabu from Kelantan. Lunch time always feature a queue not only to get your food but also to pay! The line can be long but the service is not super fast but bearable. As it was my first time here, there was a small pressure to order fast so as not to hold up others in the queue. I opted for the Nasi Kerabu (they are quite generous with the blue rice so I opted for a half portion). Though the ayam bakar (bbq chicken) looked good, I wanted to try the daging bakar (bbq beef)- I chose the half lean and half fat option, added a cili solok (stuffed chilli) and a telur masin (salted egg). The server topped my order up with herb salad, budu (fermented anchovy sauce) and keropok (fish crackers). There was a large space plenty of seating area so that wasn't a problem. The blue rice was fragrant and soft and the cili solok was flavourful and juicy. The beef, although generous, was a bit hard and chewy for me. The herb mix was more cabbage than herbs which was unfortunate for me as I love the herbs that's usually added to nasi kerabu. The telur masin was a nice addition giving some saltiness to the meal. Overall the food is good but not great. The meal came up to RM 16.00 with a teh O ais which is quite reasonable. After you finish your meal, you join this long queue to pay- it's a trust system whereby you tell the cashier what you had. She'll have absolutely no idea as to what you actually ordered. I'm sure this system must create a huge hole in their profit. But it's nice to see such trust being displayed. Would I recommend it? Yes. The food is good and the area is...

Secondly: as for the food, I wanted to get the Kambing but they didn't have it so I got the Ayam and Daging Bakar instead. The daging bakar on top of the Nasi Kerabu wasn't even that good. Some of it was chewy while there's not much flavour in it. Too many coriander leaves and greens added, with the sambal it was kind of a sweet and spicy taste, but other than that the beef had no real flavour to it. The chicken tasted good though! (giving one extra star just because of it) Maybe the taste suits that of Malay people 🥲 but for us from Pakistan bbq meat is supposed to have rich smoky flavours not just sweet meat glazed with sugar!
Thirdly: I got it takeaway and ate about 1 hour later. Maybe if I had dine in (which was limited due to all the crowd) I would have had a better experience with a fresh, hot meal. But I doubt that since the flavor or meat tenderness shouldn't be affected in such a short time. The quantity was good for the price, but the same can't be said about the taste.
Overall, I can say this experience was definitely not worth the long wait in line. The servers were friendly but I do not recommend the food. Maybe Kambing not being available was a blessing in disguise haha. There's too much hype created around the food on social media and sadly the place didn't live up to its...
Read moreWent here for early lunch. Got nasi kerabu & nasi dagang. For lauk we got ayam bakar & keli goreng.
Both are pretty good. But nothing special or great. Its a good simple lunch.
The lada solok is especially good. Full of flavor, not too spicy. Perfect. Almost worth coming just for the solok.
The famed lemak bakar, unfortunately, is abit of let down. The portion is generous, the flavor is good albeit abit sweet, but it comes with this weird, plasticky aftertaste. I dont know what cause this. Maybe the preparation, Maybe the utensils used, maybe the thing they used as fire to cook it, it left this very unpleasant aftertaste. It's like smelling burnt plastic.
Maybe i got a bad batch, maybe I'm just unlucky. But it's such a bad experience, despite how popular the lemak bakar is, i can't recommend it.
Get other lauk. The ayam bakar is good. Also the Teh ais also very nice, not too sweet (still sweet la. But reasonable).
The que at 11.50am on Wednesday is not too much, for dine in its pretty quick. Que for 3+mins,pick a table & order drinks. The service also good.
For takeaway, i can see it takes almost 30mins per person. So do be patient if u want to takeaway.
The price also pretty good. One Nasi kerabu + lemak + ayam + solok + telur masin & one nasi dagang with same lauk +2 teh ais= total rm50....
