🚨*Disappointing Experience at Spash & Fun Water Park *🚨
I recently visited Spash & Fun Water Park in Malta and was quite disappointed with the overall experience. Here are some key issues I encountered:
Lack of Lifeguard Attention: The lifeguards were frequently on their phones, smoking, or not paying attention to the rides. This neglect created a significant safety concern as there were no vigilant eyes on the swimmers and riders.
Unenthusiastic Staff: The staff on shift didn’t seem to care and were often just standing around. The most enthusiastic workers were the ones who taught dance routines at the wave pool, often to an empty audience. Their energy, although appreciated, seemed misplaced given the lack of engagement elsewhere in the park.
Slide Issues: Many of the slides didn't have enough water to provide a smooth ride. This made the experience uncomfortable and less enjoyable than expected.
Poor Slide and Dive Maintenance: The diving board had three steps missing to the highest point, with rusty metal sticking out and wood rotting away. At the bottom of the diving area, young children were swimming around with no lifeguard to get them out of the way, creating a hazardous situation. Additionally, the missing steps on the diving board made it difficult to exit the pool safely.
Rampant Cannabis Smoking: There were lots of people smoking cannabis around the sun beds, creating an awful smell that permeated the area. No staff seemed to care or take action to address this issue, further detracting from the overall experience.
Inadequate First Aid: A friend hurt her foot on one of the slides, resulting in bleeding toes and a potential fracture. The only first aid offered was non-waterproof plasters, with no ice pack or proper injury assessment provided. This lack of adequate first aid care was very concerning.
Dirty and Uncomfortable Changing Facilities: The changing facilities and bathrooms were very dirty and in desperate need of a thorough cleaning. They lacked benches to put bags or change of clothes on, making it uncomfortable to change. Additionally, the facilities were very dark and had no air conditioning, making the experience even more unpleasant.
Lax Rules and Regulations Around Slides: Very young children were skipping queues and riding slides that were clearly inappropriate for their age. There were no lifeguards checking the riders, resulting in multiple people, sometimes four or five at a time, going down slides simultaneously. There were no enforced height, weight, or age limits, which is a major safety concern.
Negligent Staff During Emergencies: I witnessed someone get into difficulties at the Super Bowl slide, and we had to get a life buoy to help them while the "lifeguard" on duty was sitting nearby in a chair, completely inattentive. This level of negligence is unacceptable and dangerous.
Overall, Spash & Fun Water Park needs to address these issues to ensure a safer and more enjoyable...

🚨Second time coming here this season, and yet another injury has occurred. First time we came here a member of our group smacked his head on the water slide because you have no rules or safety protocols in place. The only reason we came this time is because we were given a free pass to come again, but I should’ve never come back. This time, a piece of your floor board in the lazy river has risen, with sharp edges, hitting every person that goes over it, and when told about it the lifeguards sent a member of staff to stand next to the bridge to watch people swim over it, without saying anything such as “be careful” or “watch your foot on the floor below”, nothing. He stood and watched every person hit their leg/foot on it without saying a word.
Just in case nobody was aware, this is completely illegal, especially due to the fact that they are completely aware of the situation but as always, do NOTHING about it, because well… they are lazy and they are now liable for any injuries that occur since we informed them of this.
❗️Here are just a few things you can witness when visiting Splash and Fun:❗️
•Rusty screws and metal almost broken on the stairs (which is just waiting to collapse) •teenagers sneaking in alcohol and getting drunk •children jumping from bridges into the lazy river •lifeguards no where to be seen , and if they are there, no rules being enforced •queues don’t exist because every one skips and lifeguards don’t care •unsafe slides which people are constantly getting flipped over, or smacking their heads on it, AND I am constantly seeing people flying almost over the edge of the water slide because they don’t set any weight limit, or rules to who can go and how to lay/sit!! •broken glass/plastic pieces on floors and in pools •floor boards loose underwater •pool drains sticking out with sharp plastic edges
Moral of the story, if you care about the safety of your family, don’t visit Splash and Fun. 💙
And to you Splash and Fun, I would suggest that you use the money that get from all the tourism and locals hard earned money, to invest in some maintenance and perhaps actually building things up to legal health and safety standard so maybe people will stop getting hurt. God knows you have the money to do the bare minimum to make the park safe and enjoyable for everyone.
Such a disgusting waste of money and definitely never...
Read moreHaving lived in Malta for 7 years I heard many rumours about how unhygienic and poorly maintained the place is. And, yes, pretty much its not a nice place. Service and maintenance is "typical Malta", of low standard but not unexpected in Malta. We went for a half day on a Friday and it was busy but not absolutely hectic. Couldn't find a parking spot in the car park so we parked in the Bahar ic Caghaq beach car park a couple of mins walk away. The door attendants are nice but for those who don't understand Maltese ways it would come across very rude. They don't know how to talk politely; we were grunted at when we asked to buy goggles, pointed in the general direction of goggles in a very strange jumbled shop, and then inexplicably pointed at to walk outside the shop and go back outside to the ticket desk to pay for them.... it was due to the card machine not being inside but the way they just grunt and point 🤣.
The interior is as it looks from outside; run down. Slide structure is very rusted and the buildings on site look like they're falling apart. The water and walkways were not super clean. The slides and features were OK, definitely not on par with other European water parks but OK. It was very noisy with very loud music on.
Out kids age 4-8 really enjoyed themselves and that was why we went after all.
The main negative point was the water itself. It is saltwater treated with chlorine which stings the eyes so much that we avoided the slides and going under water. Every time it splashed in the eyes I could barely see for about 15 mins after. It did not affect everyone in our group as severely although everyone commented on it. It smelled very strange as well, we all smelled fishy when we left and couldn't wait to shower. The lazy river has an inside section that smells really horrible...
Overall its not a great park; not on par with other European parks but could be considered on par with Malta standards. The little fun fair inside is nice and probably the nicer part of the site which we would go back to, but don't think we will be visiting the...
