I love this regional museum. It was small but very informative. Like many museums it started at the bottom floor with an ancient history paleolithic, I think. It explains about the mammoths that live in the area and that this area is close to where the meteor strike at the end of the dinosaur era took place. It showed how the ancient people lived and thrived in the area. The 2nd floor explained more of the exploration done by the Spanish. The third went into the more modern-day Histories of the revolution and the fight for independence in California Baja Sur. It was very easy to find and access. Our cab driver took us right there and it didn't cost very much a few bucks. There was a guide but he was busy with the children's group. And so we explored our own. With our camera, the museum offers English translation through barcodes so you can look it up online as you go through the exhibits. So make sure to have your smart phone. It was informative and as archeology often does, reminds of many other museums and relationships that connect us all through this worlds history. I...
Read moreWe went to visit last Friday Jan 5th 2024 at 3:15 pm. Unfortunately doors were locked with no signs posted about closing early. The security guard approached us to let us know he could not let us since they were closed and the lady inside at the main counter confirmed it. I argued they had different closing time online wich they replied it was not the right info and they were closing at 4 pm. I told them we were coming from far away and it was 3:15 pm if possible please give is the chance it wouldn't take us longer than 30 min to finish the tour but they did not let us in. We stayed there outside with the children and realized lady at the desk went out the building 5 min after denying our entry so figured she had to do some personal errands. She came back a few minutes before 4:00 pm and posted the closed sign but still there were visitors coming out the museum after 4.
Horrible experience for the kids who were excited to see the museum and very irresponsible workers and false online...
Read moreChildren enter free. Adult entrance is at 70 pesos and goes up. I don't understand why everyone says it's free admission. The man at check in said it's free for everyone on Sundays but the language he used hinted that locals are the ones that are free on Sundays. Admission unclarity aside the art exhibit located in the ground floor is probably the best part of the whole exhibit. The rest of the museum is filled with mediocre at best replicas and the problematic and ignorant language still used to describe the indigenous peoples and historic events continues the inaccurate and heartbreaking falsehoods that are regurgitating in museums like this, Depicting colonizers and religious genocide and extermination of a peoples as "discoveries" and "explorers" only makes it palatable for a very specific and ignorant audience and again sugar coats the reality. Overall the museum is sadly a waste of opportunity. We left...
