Great place, great people (owners, staff, and volunteers), and a very well thought out and laid out hostel. Especially great if you like (or are traveling with) dogs!
In my experience the hostel and more importantly the people have a very welcoming, hospitable and communal/familiar vibe for the most part.
The dorms are unique, shipping containers partitioned with curtains, each bed has its own entrance, secure storage/nightstand, power giving the feeling of a "semi-private" room.
The hoatwl is sufficiently clean, has a nice open kitchen, slightly older average age than your typical HI hostel or big commercial party hostel (mostly mid 20s to mid 30s when I was there, which is a plus for me).
All the usual nice to haves: Decent WiFi, drinking water, decent continental breakfast including healthy-ish options, and most importantly coffee!, showers with hot water and good water pressure, casual social events many evenings, secure parking for maybe 4-6 cars or small trucks or vans as well as easy and relatively safe feeling street parking, walking distance to many things, supermarket is one block away, tamale vendor in front of the market has good tamales, other food spots are walking distance. Maybe just over 10 minute walk to the Malecon and center of town. Staff can help you with tours and other arrangements if that is your style. The hostel has casual events most days of the week (ex: Spanish lessons, movie night, salsa or cumbia night, pub crawl)
My experience so far has...

Our experience at Peace Hostel was absolutely fantastic! From the moment we arrived, we felt at home thanks to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The price-quality ratio is excellent, with clean, comfortable spaces that are well taken care of.
The staff went above and beyond to help us with everything we needed. A huge shoutout to Rojo and Coni for their kindness and great vibes, and to Shiva, the owner, for making us feel so welcome.
On top of that, the hostel is pet-friendly and has a super chill 420-friendly vibe, perfect for travelers looking for a relaxing and cozy stay in La Paz. We’re so grateful for everything and will...
Read moreSuch a special place full of friendly people! I stayed in a private room with my partner for almost 2 weeks. The rooms are small compared to a hotel, but the AC and wifi work great, there's plenty of hot water, and the beds are comfy! Excellent rates - if you book for a week or more, the prices can't be beat! Plus, there is a big common area with a large kitchen, with everything you need for cooking. The location is fantastic, near all the museums and the malecon and lots of good non-touristic restaurants. There is a big grocery store two blocks away, and a truly wonderful coffee spot right...
