A large open market that only opens on the weekends. Very busy place localized in a large fenced area of Tonala. You can find anything there. Most people go to get their vegetables and fruits. And some go to have breakfast and lunch as there is Mexican food being sold with local flavoring. However if you want pottery, art or artisan goods there are stores all the way around that will cater to your needs. You don't have to go far to find them. During the week all the stores are open but most people flock to the Tianguis because they can better bargains there. And Mexican people enjoy going to the Tianguis or open market. I think it is something they really enjoy. So if you like crowds and bargains go to Tianguis Tonala. You won't be...

This market goes on for blocks in every direction. Every type of handicrafts, furniture, textiles, housewares you can imagine and more. The market center runs on Thursdays and Sundays but all the surrounding streets are full of most of the inventory seven days a week. Lots of cheap junk with bits of higher end stuff mixed throughout and on the periphery. If you want furniture either super modern or traditional, this is the place to shop. Bring a truck or shipping larger items available with Castores for...

I’ve been on a Sunday before and the place is packed, it’s a good morning trip that can easily turns into a full day with the colorful shops and Sunday market stalls. The people were friendly and the prices were great. Everything is sold from plants, shoes, pottery, food, furniture it’s endless. Well worth a trip and if you want it quieter and don’t mind missing the street stalls go on a Saturday when the shops and part of the market is open. We should all have some of the local craft on our walls and...

So much to see so much to buy. I've never been able to see all of the shops as it gets pretty packed on Sundays. It is open on Thursdays as well, which I heard is not as busy as sundays. You can definitely find affordable everything here and you can try and negotiate a lower price, especially when buying multiple items from a vendor. Tejuino with lemon icee is delicious. I always buy one when I go. This one was 60 pesos which amounts to about $3
