Great Market - Amazing Finds, Affordable Prices, and Talented Artists

I had a wonderful time exploring this vibrant market! From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the wide variety of stalls and the lively atmosphere. I ended up purchasing a stylish shirt, a beautiful bag, and a pair of earrings — and I was pleasantly surprised by how affordable everything was. The prices were very reasonable, making it easy to find great deals without sacrificing quality.

What really stood out to me was the talent of the local artists and vendors. The craftsmanship and creativity on display were truly impressive, showcasing some of the best of Oaxaca’s artistic talent. The selection of items was diverse, ranging from trendy accessories to unique clothing pieces, all reflecting the rich cultural heritage and artistry of Oaxaca. It’s clear that a lot of care and skill go into each product.

Overall, this market is a fantastic place to browse, shop, and discover one-of-a-kind items. Whether you’re looking for a special gift, a new fashion piece, or just want to enjoy the energetic vibe, I highly recommend visiting. It’s a great spot for anyone who loves shopping, art, and supporting local artisans — and the best part is, you don’t have to spend a fortune to leave happy...

This place is a cultural hub. Some things are overpriced because the vendor is not an artisan but someone who does resale. However, most of the vendors are in fact artisans and have very reasonably priced items. They truly represent the splendors of Oaxaca's 7 regions and many will even educate you and give you a small history lesson on their art. The restrooms are reminiscent of a bar's w.c and there is no air conditioning but it is nice and cool. Unfortunately there are cockroaches and most of the vendors open pretty late. Still, this place is a must if you are...

This small mercado is guarded by huge figures that stand by the door and make you feel that you must go in. The huge figures, though, are at the exit, the salida, but there are two nearby ways to get in.

This market was not crowded when I visited. A few people were considering buying what I took to be blankets. Several others inspected small figurines that appear to begin in price around five dollars USD. I am not aware of why the small figurines are so popular in Oaxaca, but I see them everywhere.

This market has some interesting stuff and less crowding. It's a...

A small, but well stocked, market where you can find a selection of artisan goods that come from the market towns surrounding the City. Most of the stalls here are selling textiles (including rugs, shirts, bags, sheets, curtains, etc), but there were a few stall selling small wooden toys and more touristy goods (t-shirts, knickknacks) . As with most of the markets in the City, you could probably get a better price if you went out to the market towns (e.g. for rugs) and negotiated with the vendors out there -- but the selections and the prices here are still a pretty good deal.

Great spot for Oaxacan textiles. Spanish skills necessary here. No AC so very hot inside in May. However worth going because of huge selection in all things Oaxaca. Black pottery, alebrijes (painted wooden animal art) & textiles such as table runners, table cloths, pillow covers, clothing, rugs in every imaginable color, pattern & design. Dazzling but not for faint hearted as can be overwhelming.
