In the heart of the downtown of the city, this is an iconic place for the city of Toluca and I dare to say to the country. (Many photos of the man in flames, in the centre of this garden, approve my sentence). The building functioned as a market (Mercado 16 de Septiembre) during the first decades of the last century until the local government decided to make it a reference place for the city landscape. With the help of Manuel Arratia (engineer) and Manuel Arratia (artist) this garden it's a must to visit in the city of Toluca. The Jardín Botánico y Cosmovitral design is art nouveau. 60 local craftsman helped with the creation of the artistic walls. 75 tons of glass of 28 different colours (the glass was brought from countries like Italy, France, Germany or Japan). the main theme of the "Cosmovitral" is the mankind and the relationship with the universe. It shows the evolution and keystones of the mankind and the close relationship with the environment and the universe. (the ceiling shows the celestial vault and the Milky Way constellation. This old market preserves more than 400 species of plants from Central America, South America, Africa and Asia. There is a pond with koi fish of brilliant colours.

Food: NA/5 Service: 5/5 (paid tour) Ambiance: 5/5 Parking: NA/5 Family/stroller friendly: 5/5 If you're ever in the El Centro de Toluca, Mexico area, this is a must see place. It is a botanical garden and THE BIGGEST STAINED GLASS HOUSE in the world, it absolutely lives up to it's name. There is a fee to get in, but very nominal. However, before even getting inside, just inside the entrance you'll find an enormous Orange hued, stained glass mural, reminiscent of Captain Marvel, or a rising Phoenix. With the spring equinox, the sun hits perfectly from the outside, through the stained glass and portrays a perfect replica on the botanical garden floor. The stain glass murals might even rival that of the Sistine chapel in the way stories are portrayed, in my opinion. Be warned though, since this is a botanical garden, it tends to be a bit humid to keep a variety of landscapes and over abundance of plants comfortable. Also, there might be the occasional "influencer" snapping photos and doing multiple runs of "live" dancing. Anyways, I digress. It's great for families. Parking is no bueno as we had to park across the street. This is a downtown area after all. Highly recommend if I'm the area!

The main attraction here is the glassworks and the botanical garden completed the scene. The place is one of those individual art pieces of character. If you are in Toluca you must visit and enjoy the soothing music and the fine glass art. This place used to be a market place then was converted into an attraction. There’s a small Japanese corner/ garden where you can also see some fishes, Jasmine and simple Japanese decorations. The Japanese garden fountain wasn’t working when I visited. I think that you should dedicate perhaps an hour or slightly less to enjoy and give yourself sometime for couple of photographs with artistic backgrounds.

Beautiful place highly recommended for a quick stroll while you're in Toluca, so many species of plants from different habitats our favorite was the desert display with so many varieties of cacti and magueys (Agave plants), the Japanese Garden and fish ponds make for a nice picture location, and everything is surrounded by the stained glass, it adds beauty to a place already amazing... You can enjoy a snack from many of the vendor outside or buy some arts and crafts, parking can be a little troubling but we opted for a pay parking and they washed our car... Enjoy the city of Toluca and dont miss Cosmovitral

This place is amazing! Definitely the must-see attraction in this city. And only 25 pesos to enter! I recommend going before 1pm on a weekend as a lot of families with children arrive after 1 and there will be a line to get in and less peaceful inside. Or go early on a weekday and have the whole place to yourself! Only drawback is the bathrooms there are quite dirty and unkempt. No toilet paper or towels on the mens room. Smelled like Satan's toilet seat. But thankfully the bathrooms are far from the garden itself in the basement so just go before you go and you'll be fine.

Beautiful place to visit, well maintain but sadly is surrounded by informal sellers at the door and main square. It’s a disgrace that the Toluca local government decide to capitalize instead of maintain the place open and free of merchants. On the inside you can find a couple of fish ponds, Japanese garden and my favorite the cactus corner with a avid collection of cactus plants from the diverse regions on Mexico. And of course part of the main flare is the colorful glass around the whole building, it’s beautiful indeed.
